Upgrading A Soft 4x4 Suspension

Just picked up a new 2009 Sierra 4X4 extended cab. I'll admit that I didn't research enough to know that I should have gotten one with the Z71 suspension. My suspension is too soft for me. What would be the best upgrade to try first, sway bar, shocks, or something else?

Eric,

I have a 08 crewcab with the heaviest springs and sway bar. My truck feels mushy, but it's not the springs that are the problem on mine. It's the shocks that don't have enough damping for the springs on mine.

You might consider getting a set of shocks from Bilstein. Think ahead about whether you want to lift or level the truck before you buy shocks. There are two brands that allow you to raise the front end to level the truck: Bilstein BE5E376HO and the Rough Country front shock.

This thread link is about installing the Bilstein front shocks that have adjustable ride height.

I have a new 08' Z71 and I feel the same way about my front shocks, not up to par....I'm gonna replace them with Bilsteins or maybe KYBs if they come out with any to fit my truck

so I'd second shocks being the place to start

I'm in the same boat with my 08 CC, very soft and makes the ride bumpy. I'd say go with shocks. The Blistein 5100 series is good. Most likely what I'll put on. I had a 07 with the heavy duty suspension and it seemed to have a stiffer ride and road much better
