Shifting In To Gear

Recommended Posts

I noticed I no longer have to use the brake to shift in to gear. I had the Dealer look into it ( another story in it self). I was told I need a new Bit-si(sp?) solinoid. Does anyone really know how to spell this, and or where I can get a part number for it?

it is a 2005 Chevrolet 2500, 4 door crew cab shortbox, 8.1 with an allison 5 speed trans, Thanks Jesse

It's BTSI (brake transmission interlock solenoid). I don't know where you could get it though.

Double check this (and re-double check this) before you buy one as I don't wanna be the one you're yelling at if it's the wrong part number, but I think the PN is 26094827

Gizmo is located on the steering column above the pedals (pretty close to where the steering column goes thru the firewall). I think it's on the inboard side, but it's been a while.

My brother in law messed up the wiring to his when he was doing something that he was not qualified to do (and thus was locked in park 'til I fixed it!) We didn't remove the thing, but we did disconnect the wiring to it, and it was a while ago. We got the P/N assuming that he killed the solenoid and never needed to order one since we found the wiring problem. More amazing is that I found the file on my computer that had this info and some other things in it. His truck was an 04, but the info I had said the number was good for 03-07 model years.
