i asked in another forum but no help , i swaped motors in my truck with a 1992 van 5.7 i dropped a lot of hp the only thing that differs per specs is the tbi the 1990 is #17090022 the 1992 is #17090061 , does anyone know if there is a cfm or injector size difference or computer communication problem anything will help thanks

What if you try swapping the TB from your '90 to the new motor?

+1

I'd use the TB assy from the old engine, along with any sensors.

i had planned on that , i was really trying to put a method with my madness so i knew what actually made the difference for later reference & my own peice of mind , it's such a small peice anyways

thanks

a lot of times an engine will run stronger with higher mileage. Not 150,000 but like 10 or 20,000 my experience is that a broke in engine runs better than one with 2 miles. just my $.02

one...how many miles on the swaped? Checked the timing?

90k on swap but i installed new timing chain & gears , new high volume oil pump , new front & rear seals , new intake gaskets , new water pump , yes , timing is right on

I think the van motors had lower HP and torque numbers than the trucks. The cams might be different, possibly other things.
