Cb Mounting Location

Anyone have a good mounting location for a CB radio in a NBS 2007+ Silverado? If you have pictures, please share. Thanks guys!

I have a Cobra 75-WX-ST radio which is an all-in-one hand-held unit so mounting is not a big deal. All I had to install was a small metal box for the cable connections and that's hidden under the center console.

What I'm trying to find is a good antenna mount for my '08. I had a nice fender-mount for my 99 but it doesn't look like anyone has made a similar mount for the GMT900 trucks. I have a quick-disconnect on the antenna as I don't always keep the radio in the truck all so the mount has to be something reachable.

Any ideas??

Scott, please post some close-ups of that antenna and how you mounted it, the mroe close-ups the better..

Is that a K40 antenna??

Not to jump on your hay ride but have you heard any good ideas on antenna locations? I have an older truck, 2004, with the power retracting tow mirrors and it seems like a magnetic mount on the roof is the only option. I like the look and power that the dual whips provide but using them with my mirrors isn't an option and I also have a hard cover for the bed. Drilling holes in the cab doesn't excite me much. I got plenty of options when it comes to installing the radio itself. My problem always comes down to the antenna.

I am very interested in the hood/fender mount you used Scott, where did you find one that fits the new trucks, all of my searches have come up with nothing.

Mohican, in my old truck (99 GMT 800) i had a whip mounted to the rear bumper on the passenger side of the truck, there are some factory holes in the steel bumper that are used to locate the plastic cover, i just cut out the plastic around one of the holes which is just about the right size for a stud mount and ran the cable along the frame rail into the cab, never had any problems with it, allowed for full tailgate access and had fairly good communication range.

Scott, I know this isn't topic related, but I just noticed your Sig picture. I'm a HUGE fan of Corvettes, but your truck looks amazing. That's a pretty awesome picture dude! I'd drive your truck over the vette anyday. (not saying the vette looks like crap because it does look good, it's just that your truck looks real good)

I had this antenna on my old truck as well so it isn't model specific. Go to K40.com (I think) and look at their antenna selection there. If I have time, I get you some pics of how I bent the mounting bracket so I didn't have to drill any holes.

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it!

Thanks I would appreciate that, its killing me not having my Cobra 29 in my new truck! Now that the antenna issue is almost taken care of, has anyone mounted a CB in a GMT 900 with the center console, it blocks the location shown earlier in this post.

Here is a picture from a post a few weeks ago from someone else on this board. It shows how they mounted their radios.

I plan on making a smaller box this spring to mount my cd radio.

(Note: this is not my picture...it's from another post on this forum but I don't remember from whom...hope it was ok to post).
