Help With Diagnosing Noise

Recommended Posts

Posted

My 2007 Silverado Classic, 28k miles on my 4.3, has recently exhibited some moderate fluctuations in oil pressure under 3000 rpm. There is also a noise something like a collapsed lifter, but not as loud as a fully collapsed lifter. This has developed sometime within the past 7500 miles or so, seems to be gradually getting more noticeable.

The local dealer (Ourisman Chevrolet in Bowie MD) says this is perfectly normal. What say you?

Oil pressure used to be completely stable, and that "ticking" noise is new too. Or, as the dealer says, is this perfectly normal and just the product of the truck being 2 years older now?
