After Market Rotors?

I have a 2005 Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab and need all four rotors. I am thinking of Power Slots but am wondering if anybody has info or reviews on others like EBC Rotors. Wondering if spending the 400-500+ dollars is worth it or just get the 50 dollar ones at the auto parts store. Correct me if I am wrong but is it correct to say that slotted/ dimpled rotors cant be turned? Will the name brand rotors last twice as long as the cheap ones? Any info will be greatly appreciated!!!

I have never used powerslot, but from my experience Brembo work very well.

You can "cut" or "turn" a slotted or dimpled rotor, but you will lose the slots and dimples. You can not "cut" or "turn" a cross drilled rotor.

Hope this helps.

I had Brembo slotted/drilled rotors and they worked awesome. I didn't have any troubles with them and would recommend them. EBC rotors and Power slots are both good rotors too.

Don't buy the Chinese rotors or you will be replacing them over and over... Some auto parts stores will stand behind the parts but not your labor so make sure you get your monies worth...

How many miles are on your truck?

34,000 miles on my 04 2500 HD and the inboard side of the rotors are rusted, pads only hitting on about 25% of the rotor. I'm assuming it's all the salt in the winter, but it's still pretty poor that the rotors already need replacinging, plus they were warped and were turned under warranty with only about 10,000 miles on them

I inquired at the dealer this time about the rust to see if there had been a pattern of problems with the rotors. A clown behind the desk said: Well you only have 34,000 on it, you must not drive it much so they are rusting. I wanted to ask if they had to repalce all the rotors on the trucks that are just sitting on the lot! :)

I have Powerslot rotors with Hawk ceramic pads. 25000+ miles and still in great shape. I haul a truck camper with it and the combo is 9800#s on the scale. Braking is very good. And I've been up numerous and down numerous 8-14% grades while traveling.

markw8,

You must get a lot of salt on the roads in Ohio? Doesn't seem to bother the powerslots?

The truck doesn't see much salt, but the rotors seem to have a higher quality finish than ordinary rotors. Just by the appearence I think they should tolerate salt ok.

Thanks Mark. Anyone use SSBS (Stainless Steel Brake Systems) rotors? Summit has a pretty good package deal on rotors and pads. Thanks.

i have been searching a bit and now new to this forum.I have a 2002 2500HD sierra 4x4 with 41,000 miles and it is brake and rotor time so i am bringing this topic back up from a search to see what is the latest and greatest information.Thay have been turned and then replaced by the dealer but not now,its my turn,as you can see i do not put alot of miles on but it spends alot of time in the fields going up and down hills.

What do people recomend as replacement pads and rotors?

Its time for pads on my 01 HD and i have had really good luck with the Bendix pads in the past. they dont put out as much dust as others and dont squeal at all. i had a set on my 94 1500 that lasted 38,000 miles which for my driving habits is excellent

what about rotors? my local bumper to bumper is recomending ac delco's for $107ea with $58.00 wagner pads. AKA $544.00 DIYS

i know the $1100 parts est from GM for OEM isn't getting the bid!

tire rack is where i get all my tires recomends HAWK LTS pads(green box)($192 all 4) and i believe Brembo rorors plane($320) or power slot rotors for $478.00 and it looks like the power slots are treated from rust.

the HAWK pads are rather pricey, how would the Power Slot rotors match up to Bendix or wagner? it seems like power Slot rotors are the way to go?

now for pads....?

Honestly i use the cheap rotors on cuz i worked for NAPA for 4 years and have tried them all as far as oem goes i havent tried the performance rotors yet but i drive aggressive and have never noticed a difference with any brand of rotor like wagner, bendix, delco. However i do like the wagner premiums except they have the tendancy to put out alot more dust on the wheels and they tend to squeal a little more than the bendix when the pads starts getting down to 50%. But my buddy had some cross drilled slotted rotors on his grand prix with the bendix pads and he loved them, except with the cross drilled and/or slotted you can here them pretty good when you hit the brakes, i guess its just part of physics
