Aftermarket Alternators

Looks like I'll have to have my alternator's regulator replaced either at a rebuilder or new part. I came across some websites offering higher amp rated units. My current unit is 145amps and I don't have any other electrical demanding options. Would anything over the OEM's 145 amp rating be overkill and a waste of money or necessary? I was looking at a 170 amp product: https://www.dcpowerinc.com/ad-170-oem-serie...drqroqdttrkpgq1

Thanks

Stephen.

Sounds like a good option. My only concern is buying an alternator online. There are a few parts that I like to buy at a major retailer and an alternator is one of these. I do this because of Murphy's Law. They only time something like an alternator usually goes out is on a weekend when you are getting ready to go on a trip or you really need to be somewhere. A lot of good that 2 year free replacement warranty does you then if you bought it online.

A stock replacement alternator should handle everything it sounds like you are trying to do. Plus most of you Parts Houses will have a life time warranty option.
