What Did You Tune For

OK here is a IMO question. I figured you guys here wont BS me(too much)about this subject. I am having Justin @ Blackbear tune my 05 2500 HD. EXSB, 4x4, A/T, stock 105k miles. I am wondering what you guys have done with the tunes. I mainly run around town here but 30+% of the time I tow cattle @ 20k+ for 500 miles. Do you pull all the TM out? How high a rpm did you set the shift points at? I want my T/H mode to be T/H but tighter and want the standard mode crisper. Can I set the governor to 200mph :thumbs: ? I need more torque basically. I also think a 320hp+ truck should be able to go sideways outta a stop light at will. I have been reading on EFILive that I could basically make 100s of tunes to get my truck "just right" but dont have the knowledge or patience. Any input here would be good b/c I would rather do it right in the first place. Thanks

From my experience when i got a high octane tune 91-92, it performed better than the 87-89 octane tune AND netted far better fuel economy, it actually was cheaper to fill with prem because of the increased mileage. Then of course there is no need to re-tune often as shes set to shred the tires all the time! JMO. (oh yeah and that was when i was N/A too)

Got the tune! HOLY CRAP. talk about bang for your buck! The scan says 400rwhp, I cant imagine thats totally true but the 285s sure dont like the new power. Feels like a different truck. Shifts could be a bit stronger but way better then original. Lights 'em up from stops and 0-100 went from....stop to the creeek to stop to Leonords place, the first house on right. Almost 2x as fast. I wish i would of done my 00 lowrider b/f I sold it. Such a deal for $200!

Troy,

Glad you like the tune.

Seems like there are a lot of people that don't really believe what a tune will do. :smoker:

I took a chance and had my Cadillac tuned.

I love it.

I am on two Cadillac forums, and almost everyone, on both forums, said it was a waste of time and money.

They were WRONG. :lol::lol::D

There are a couple of little minor things that I need him to tweak just a tiny bit but overall, I am very satisfied. It runs better, shifts better, and gets just a little bit better mileage.

As long as I keep my foot out of it. :D

I am even thinking of buying the software from him so I can fine tune it just a little more. :D

Congrats! As you drive it, you will only love it more. :smoker:

Best bang for the buck, it's amazing how most people I tell that don't believe it. Oh well their loss.

Congrats again. I thought I had a new truck after getting mine tuned.

Ryan, I just told Justin @ Blackbear I towed and thought the trans was to soft. I cant imagine what "Go hog wild" would do! I seen my friend after the 1st drive with the same truck as mine and he could not believe it either I am going to have him drive it soon so he "believes". Now you barly touch the pedal and your going 70 b/c of the xtra power. I know it will tow better too. I am gonna tune every rig I get from here on out. I mean a muffler is 400 and gets what? 20hp? Way better investment in ...fun and Firestones!
