Hids Interfering With My Radio!

Recommended Posts

Just started to get static through my radio even when its off once my HIDS are warmed up. Its very loud and annoying. Ive heard it was a grounding issue so i remounted the ballast black case by screwing it with self tapping screws into the inner fender and still get static!

WTF???!?!?!?!?!?!

Any input would be awesome.

Here is a few pics of the two ballasts.

the problem with my hids are that my radio signal strenth is not nearly as good as it was before, like my local stations that came in perfect before now have a little static sometimes...

I had the same problem with mine. I tried everything to installing relays to rapping the ballast in tin foil and moving them to different spots and nothing helped. I returned my kit and got a new one and it works fine. I found that one of the ballast were causing the problem. Hope this helps you.

I had a similiar issue in my '02....as soon as the HID's were turned on, lots of static on the radio.

And trying to use the iPOD with the FM transmitter dock (which worked fine when the lights were off) was useless at night because of the HIDs.

Sounds like the ballasts aren't properly shielded or are producing too much RF noise. If you try a portable radio while your HIDs are on, does that radio produce static?
