Crew Cab Subs

I have a 2005 crew cab and want to get some subs under the back seat. being a crew cab i no i dont have much room for subs. I have heard that dayton ho's do really well in these situations and are a excelent sq sub. but i want them to be able to get really loud and i dont no if the daytons can do that. i went to my local car audio place and they recomended Kicker Cvr's. Either way i will be doing 2 10's in a sealed box under the seat that will have around .5 air for each sub. between these 2 subs what do yall think would get louder and shake more. or i am open to any other suggestions its just that they have to have 5 inch mounting depth or less .i will have a kicker 750.1 or 1000.1 amp to power them

Just my opinion But,

I would try to get or build a enclosure that will give you at least .8 to 1.0 FT3 each side sealed. The zx750.1 is an excellent amp and is 2 ohm stable. This means you need 4ohm CVR's with single voice coils and hook them up parallel 2ohm to get everything from your amp. This should sound good.

I have 2 Kicker 8" L7's in a SubThumb box for my '06 CC. They hit hard!! I always get that "you got 2 12's in there?" question, and the look on their face is priceless when I tell them "nope, just 2 8's".

Thanks guys. Sorry i mistyped one thing in the first post... i said cvr when i meant the cvt shallow mount. the dealer said that was about all i could fit in there. the mounting depth for cvr's is 5 9/16 and the subthuump box needs less than 5 8/16 haha. So between the 2 10 inch cvt, the 2 10 dayton ho, or the 2 8 inch l7. which do yall think would pound the hardest. they will be in the subthump box which gives .55 cu ft per sub. also i dont no if its important or not for this situation but i listen mostly to rap. I also just found the RE audio sr 10 which has a 5.25 inch mounting depth and needs only .3 cubic ft so it sounds like it would work good. I am doubting the shallow mount cvt would be able to keep up with the normal depth subs. so basically between the 2 10 inch dayton ho, 2 8 inch l7, or 2 10 inch sr's.

The 10" CVR'S will work with the right box, keep shopping. No way a CVT will compete with the CVR, Just as a CVR will not compete with a CVX with the right horsepower pushing it.

If you want the best marketed enclosure in my opinion look at www.proboxrocks.com

They have a ported, tuned and loaded single 10" to fit your truck that will make people think you have 2 15's with half the power it takes to make a woofer jump in a sealed enclosure.

I listen to Rock, Country, Hip-Hop, Rap - whatever makes my subs hit hard!

08vortecmax- i defiantly would be looking at the probox box but the thing it is says many times that it will only fit a US made truck and my truck is made in canada so that box is out of the question. im really leaning towards the 2 8 inch l7- does everybody think this would bump or do yall think the 8 just cant keep up with 10's. would the 2 8 inch l7 bump harder than the 2 10 cvt's in the subthump box?

ok neverind sorry i just found the canadian version probox. is the sub that comes with that box a good sub? So do yall think that the 2 10 inch l7 in a sealed subthump box or the probox ported would hit harder.

I could build a box but I have bought Subthump in the past and it is A+ work. So I will order the crew cab NBS with out amp cut out for 2 JL 10w3v3 that are 300watts and 500watts max. So my one JL 500/1 will work. I want the amp on the rear wall behind the rear seats so it is harder to steal.

I love JL on subs. But the 12" w3 is the same power as a 10 and I like the sound of 10s more. As far as amps I like the JL but I like the Alpine PDX way more but I have a 500/1 so I will go JL.

Pay close attention to the RMS rating on speakers and amps. MAX means nothing. Try and match your 2006 "certified" such as the Kicker Amp to the speakers RMS. I do have a probox with their 10" sub in it and so far so good. That woofer is a "hause" It is designed to move air and because the box is not sealed it pounds hard. I am 52 years old and don't listen to too must sustained bass as in rap but my rock blues and beat music gives me all the chest thumping I can take.

Remember to get all you can from your amp wether you use two subs or one, wire them at 2ohms and you will be in business. I just built a enclosure for my sons Canyon and put a 10" dual 4ohm CVR in it down fired. I had to make a custom enclosure to go between his back seats cause he has an extended cab and not much room. We used a Kicker ZX500.1 and he listens to alot of RAP and that thing hits notes I did not know existed.

A sealed enclosure will need almost twice the RMS to "thump" like a properly tuned and ported enclosure. I am no expert by any means but have learned alot over the years and I was kinda old school till I learned about the enclosure deals. Like stated above; Two L7's will rock your dentures out with the right Amp.
