So I have a 08 Silverado, and it has the 4.3L V6, what can I say gas was $4 a gallon when I bought it. And I figured I don't tow or haul anything, so why not. Anyway, I have been looking into a CAI lately, and K&N doesn't have one for the 4.3, just the V8's. Would it hurt to use one of the V8 models? Would it gain anything, or would I be just pissing in the wind? Should I just suck it up and be content with what I got? Any and all opinions welcome.

I highly doubt that the V8 model would fit your 4.3. Even if you do find a CAI made for your truck it will do very little for the performance of an otherwise stock engine. It will make a neat howling noise when you accelerate and it will SOUND faster, though. And forget the drop-in K&N filter too--it won't do a thing either. Some owners will tell you that their trucks "have better throttle response" with the drop-in. For the uninitiated, that's gearhead-wannabe language for "My new gadget really didn't help a bit but I wasted some money on it and have to say something."

Come on man give us a break your post was at 7:56pm on a Saturday night people go out and party you know :thumbs: But to answer your question you already have a CAI on your truck just not as fancy, save your money for something else and keep it stock you wont see any gains that are worth the money.

no sorry the tornado won't. Only 28.5 hp and 13 mpg better tops. well thats what the ebay seller said so I tend to belive a man that calls himself fixityourselfandsave.

I have a 2006 with the 4.3.

I do a lot of driving in it..800 to 1000 miles a week.

 

After doing a lot of research, I have not come up with anything that might increase my power/mileage that I thought was worth risking / spending my money on except maybe a tune.

 

The ads you read for whatever product you are looking at, all say "UP TO" what ever it is they are claiming. Not hard numbers.

 

"UP TO" means absolutely nothing...if you get ZERO benefits from it, they can hide behind the "UP TO" part of the ad.

 

I will probably be buying the EFI-LIVE software soon, so I will be finding out if it does any good with a 4.3

 

It did help the Cadillac..,especially in the driveability area.

It is a lot more fun to drive now, and seems to get just a hair better mileage.

 

When I get the software, I will tune the 4.3 and see what happens.

Just get a Airaid modular intake tube and a performance drop in filter and you have a CAI that won't break the bank.

Unless I'm missing something, Airaid doesn't make a Modular Intake Tube that fits his 4.3.

Agreed. A tune is your best bet. It's going to cost more than a CAI, but a good tune will be worth it.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
