Am I starting to grow up???

I don't know what's wrong w/ me.  There's snow on the ground and every year before I'd be out there fish tailing, doing donuts, and rarely using 4wd.  This year, I've just left it in 4x4 and drove nice and calmly.  Dare I say it, but am I actually starting to grow up?

BTW, got some nice pics of the snowfall and my truck parked on the street that I'll post on here tonight after I upload them.

I wouldn't go quite that far, atleast not yet anyways.  I think you finally realized what a poor driver you are in bad conditions, and are leaving the truck in 4wd to compensate for that....   ;)

Ah come on man!  Get out there and rip it up!!!  Safely heh heh.

They're calling for 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow!  Probably end up getting 1/2 inch.

Ah, but that would be good if we do get 6-10 inches.  Last time I've been 4 wheeling in any amount of deeper snow was in 96 in my 95 Z71 when we got 22 inches.  Had a blast on the backroads that weren't yet plowed.  No one on the roads, life was good!

Now everyone and their brother has an SUV(Lexus, BMW, yupyup type) around here that will be out testing out their 4 wheel driving prowess.  Oh man, I can't wait to see this!  Wait, maybe I SHOULDN'T be on the roads with these people!  Maybe I'm getting old too!!  Oh yeah, I'm 33, I already am!  :D

LOL... just make sure you got a nice tow chain/strap ready to pull those SUV's out of the ditches....I know I'm ready.  ;)

No, I think this year you just figured out what hitting that 4x4 button actually does.  It usually takes most city slickers a few years until they fully understand it, so don't get too down on yourself.

You know, that's true.  Could make some bucks off of all the transplants this snow storm by doing so.

Hmmmm..... ;)

Definition please.........what do you consider yuppie-ish?  Do you consider Tahoes/Yukons, Suburbans, buttcursions, buttpeditions or any full-size SUV, yuppie-ish?

Well, since I USED to have a Tahoe, I don't consider that yuppie-ish.  Besides, the Suburban was the first SUV on the roads long before the term SUV was coined.  So GM started it all, the lemmings(other manufacturers) just followed.

If I thought Subs, Tahoes were yuppie mobiles, I would have said that.  I won't and don't hide anything.  Try not to read more into the post than what's there.  If I say something that will offend someone else, oh well. I can't be fake.  It's not me.

I took heat from having a Tahoe, but I could care less what other people thought about it.  It served the purpose I needed it for when I had it.  Now I need a truck bed more so the Tahoe is gone.

If you lived in the area I live in you might better understand.  These parts are crawling with people who have these vehicles for no other purpose other than status.  Why do you think Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and the like made these things?  To serve a utilitarian purpose?  I think not. Ever been in one? To appeal to you and me or to the rich yuppies with more cash than brains?  And since I know and unfortunately socialize with many of the yuppie type from the neighborhood I live in, I believe I can make these statements, because that is the attitude they present, everyday.  Oh Buffy, have you seen my earmuffs?  It's 30 degrees out and my poor ears are cold.

Now, I hope you're not offended because you are actually a yuppie cause if that IS the case then, well too bad.  Sucks to be you.   :D

BTW - I also own a Ford, but that's alright, I don't take offense to you making silly names of their models.

Larry, if you haven't, you really ought to go drive one if you'd want one of those in your garage cause they are terrible.

I'd take an M5 or a CL55 AMG or a CLK55 AMG over all the import SUV's out there.  In a heartbeat.  No question.  That is, once I reach yuppie status.

STEVE Don't take what I posted as I'm being offended.  I'm not.  I fully support everyones right to their opinion.  I get enough ribbing at work from a '90 Suburban owner.  He thinks if you can't put a 6x8 in the back, it isn't a truck.  He also hates the "new" body style (anything '92 and newer).  ???

Since you didn't mind those Ford cracks.....I have one more for you.  I heard they are making a new SUV....the Ford "Extinct."  :D  :D  :D  :D  j/k

    • I agree with Tim.  As tech heavy as engines are these days, no way I’d be an early buyer of the new 6.6.  Of course, I bought my ‘26 Denali w/the 6.2 after dumping my Tundra with it’s defective 3.5 liter imploding engine disaster, so I’m a little gun-shy.  That said, my 6.2 has been rock solid.  I don’t drive it like I do my BMW Z4 M40i, but I don’t baby it either.  I got a V8 for a reason.  But I’m averaging 18 around town and 22 highway.  I have seen 24 highway as well when I wasn’t loaded up heavy.  Considering my Tundra with the twin turbo V6 only got 14.5 in town and 17 on the road, I’ll take the 6.2 all day, every day.  If I were you, I’d grab a ‘26 while you can.  Inventories are probably gonna start dropping and I’ll bet the deals will start looking sweeter as well.
    • I am curious if anyone has figured out a way to add an hard button AUX or 360 Camera switch to the center row of switches. I have a 2021 AT4, and want to split the hill decent button and add a 360 camera button so that you don't have to go into the center display and locate the camera functionality, etc...   My father's 2024 Yukon XL AT4 and it has a hard button, see below. I found this thread on the Yukons, but it seems like there may not be a part number for the 2021 sierras. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/255339-adding-hard-button-for-camera-on-2021/ Anyone else figured this out. Seems like it would need to be a custom switch!   I am getting ready to install the auto stop/start eliminator, so would be nice to knock them out at once.     Upvote1Downvote0Go to comments
    • Looks like the entire state is burning. 😬
    • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
