Tire Questions

I have a 2wd with a 2" leveling kit up front. Was considering some A/T tires...my questions are:

1. Would all terrain tires be too "poser" like on a 2wd? I just really like the look, but I don't wanna look like an idiot. What do you think?

2. What is a good AT tire?

3. Isn't the difference between AT and street tires just tread depth? So, if I'm running 275/55 20 right now, the same size AT would fit the same correct?

Oops, I lied a little. Question 3 led to a new question:

4. I am keeping the 20s. Do you think 285/50 20 would fit my 06 2wd w/ leveling kit? Or should I stick with my current size?

I think AT tires can look just fine on 2WD trucks. They are basically just more aggresive tread tires.

Same size 20s would work fine. Look at the Firestone Destination AT in 275-55-20. Pretty good looking tire and priced right. I know they are listed on tirerack.com

285-50-20 is shorter than a 275-55-20. You might look into a 275-60-20.

Thanks everyone. I got a little nervous about the 285 55 20, so I played it safe and went with the 285 50 20. The difference between these and my 275 55s is isn't to noticeable in overall height...but going to a A/T tire makes it look totally different.

I decided on the Cooper Zeon LTZ. Thus far, I am very pleased (of course, I have only driver about 2 miles on them from the store to the house.)

BTW, what psi should I run. The store said 35lbs, but looking at it (see pics below), it almost looks too low.

Take a gander, whatch think?

Looks great. I think the more aggressive tread looks good on a truck.

Everybody in here is giving the Coopers good reviews.

yeah, the guy at the store also recommended them, saying that everyone who has gotten them has been pleased. Plues, I remember reading about them on here.

Not too bad a price, either...out the door $935.10. That includes lifetime free replacement, lifetime balancing, and lifetime repairs.

I run my Cooper Zeon 275/60/20 at 45psi. I think 35psi is a bit low. I think you will be very pleased with your tires.
