maybe my computers wrong or something but i just built my own camaro for 31000 dollars...is that right?

EDIT: I should add that it was an ss1 package with no goodies but still thats a nice car for that price

I like the quote under the underhood picture of the Camaro. "A 426-hp LS3 underhood means it's time for the competition to step up their game" or thee first two sentences once they get to the Camaro. "Let's make one thing clear. This baby's got motor." Dammit I need to win the lottery...

That's about right. Fully loaded 2SS/RS comes to $37k

I wonder why they pitted the camaro against the challenger R/T 5.7 and not the SRT 6.1? I guess they wanted the camaro to win.

Or. they wanted to compare like models.

The Camaro doesn't currently have an equivalent model to the SRT. If the Z28 ever comes out (and it's looking less and less likely) THAT would be the model to compare against the SRT and the GT500.

Up here a fully loaded 2SS/RS comes out to just over $45k. Not too bad actually for what one gets.

EDIT: didn't think about adding the $5k 21" rims or the automatic. so fully fully loaded can get up to $45k. yikes.

:( What?

Camaro - 422hp (Edmunds)

Challenger Srt8- 425hp (Edmunds)

Camaro - 6 speed manual

Challenger SRT8 6 speed manual

Camaro 0-60 - 5 seconds flat (according to video in this thread)

Challenger SRT8 0-60 - 4.7 seconds (Car and Driver)

Camaro 1/4 mile 13 seconds (video)

Challenger SRT8 1/4 mile 13 seconds (C&D)

Those are like models and should have been compared. The Challenger costs a hell of a lot more, so that would have to be taken into account. The Camaro still would have won, but it would have been cool to include the SRT8.

Yeah, but the Z28 would have annihilated it!!! :P

lol, true. You know I hate cars, haven't owned one since I was a teenager :P ...2WD trucks are right there too!

But, the Camaro and Challenger are both good looking cars. I wouldn't mind having either one with V6's because they both look so damn good. The Mustang on the other hand looks like trash.

They probably compared the three that were closest to each other in price - looks like the SS is the best bang for the buck.

A like model from a marketing sense:

Model Camaro Mustang Challenger

Base V6 LS V6 SE

Low end V8 SS GT R/T

High end V8 Z28 GT500 SRT 8

It's not everyone else's fault that Dodge made their high end version a snoozer compared to the GT500 and Z28.

Sadly it's not likely that the Z28 will make it to market.

Yes it will. It may take awhile, but it will.

Yeah, but by the time it does, my SS will eat it's lunch :(

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
    • Point of the post sir was that while both wages and cost are rising EVERYWHERE; the cost is rising faster EVERYWHERE than the ability to buy EVERYWHERE.
