Tail Light Question

I want to swap my stock 06 Sierra lights for stock Silverado 03+ tails. My question is, is the only difference in the two housings that Silverados have 4 bulbs and Sierras have 3? Other than that isnt the shape of the opening and the mounting tabs and screw holes all the same?

Yup, they'll fit no problem.

 

EDIT: I'd look for some '04+ Silverado tails. They have the black outline on them and IMO look better than the '03 tails

I thought 03-up Silverado tails were the same. Are they different from 03-04? I think 99-02 Silverado tails are the same as mine.

While the tail lights themselves just screw right in, you'll need a new wiring harness too I believe. I did this swap in my '03 Sierra and the needed the Silvy harnesses (passenger and drive side). Easy swap - 10 mins. From the dealership they were $50 or something.

There are two different kinds of Silvy tails that I know of. The first is the all red kind like you appear to have in your picture. That's the early style. The later style has a black-ish edge around them. My truck is black and so I went with the late style. Since your truck is red, I'd recommend the earlier style. I guess its all a matter of preference though.
