2003 Audio Aux Input

Hey guys, I've got an 03 with the CD/Cassette headunit and Bose speakers. I'm looking at a PIE adapter for an aux input, but there are two types of headunits: GM9 and GM12. From what I've gathered, the GM9 are the older units without an external output to XM/CD changer, where the GM12 have these outputs. On my headunit, I do not have an AUX button, it is instead the cassette function. Anyone done this before?

 

On a side note, is there any way to break up the fullsize forums into two sections, the GMT800 and GMT900. With the two combined, it makes searching nearly impossible. Thanks.

I pulled the radio to get a little more information.

 

The part number is 15184933 which is a single CD/tape deck. What I would assume would be the AUX button has the "Band" on one side and the "Tape/Disc" on the other side. The electrical connector is a 24pin piece if that's any help. I called up PIE tech support and they told me I need to call up GM to see if the unit is programmed to allow an external disc changer. If it is, then the aux function will operate.

All it says you need to be aware of: Factory radio must have "BAND" button in lower left corner of radio.

 

If you have any questions, I'd say contact Crutchfield support instead, they seem to be the best place that answers any of my questions.
