So this is the intake im thinking on getting, do any of u guys have this one and what do you think about it. But damn $340.00 bucks do u guys thinks it's worth it. i will have to shop around to see if i can get it cheaper. there is the link. Thanks

Honestly to me no its not. I think people are better of putting together their own for way cheaper but I'm also different then alot of people. I actually went to autozone and bought one of there's for $150 and it works great and has anice size tube and nice filter as well. Came with everything. I mean you can always get some k&n stickers and slap on it if you want!!! haha

well i can afford it but don't want to but ya i will look into making my own. it should be about the same on breathing right same horsepower gain don't you think.

Yes, you will get the same 3.4 horsepower gain at 5900 rpm that you would with the other.

That's what I did and it sounds great and "performs" as well as any other full kit out there.

If your heart is set on wasting $$ for very minimal gains then save yourself some money for the $100 Airaid MIT tube. It replaces the restriction in the stock tube. The stock paper filter flows plenty of CFM for these truck engines at 6500rpms. The K@N filter might add .2hp. My 420rwhp LS1 Camaro SS only made 3-4 more hp with the K@N airfitler vs stock paper. That is well within dyno run to dyno ran variance. Hence no gain at all on an engine making 125rwhp more than it did stock, and people think there stock 5.3L need a better flowing filter for more power.

Same here.... I'm plenty happy with my Airaid MIT/K&N Drop-in setup. Installed it @ 300 miles, truck now has 3600 miles... no problems at all.

The tubes are what cause the restriction as said above. I would replace the paper filter though once it got dirty. Replacement filters are cheap (I paid $35 for a Summit 3 months ago) and they'll last as long as you have the truck vs what 15-20k miles for a paper. By the time you buy two paper filters you could have paid for one of the nice ones.

I would keep looking at the FS sections and on eBay. Whatever you decide, make sure it has the little air dam thing that keep some of the engine compartment heat from getting sucked into the filter. Higher flow won't mean anything if you are sucking air that is 20* warmer into your engine.
