Sounds like he is getting better all the time. I hope he is ready to go and in the same shape he was last year, by the Daytona 500.

I'd like for Steve to be ready for Daytona also. But I don't think Kenny Wallace would have signed a contract with DEI if it was possible. He was the top available driver IMO. He could have signed with another team. I don't see DEI starting a fourth team for Kenny, but anything is possible. I guess it's possible that Kenny is sick and tired of driving junk and was willing to take a chance.

Another thought about Kenny, maybe he is staying around to take Michael Waltrip's place if Michael doesn't do well next year. Mikie has already been told by Teresa that he needs to learn to work better with his team.

Rumors of a 4th DEI team was dismissed by Ty Norris recently after the rumor was started.

He did say the only thing guaranteed for Kenny Wallace for 2002 by DEI was a car in the Bud Shootout, and that's it.

Wow. HEy did you read this on the net somewhere? I would really like to read about it. I really thought they were gonna run 3 cars until Steve came back, then 4 cars for the rest of the season with Kenny and Steve both in Pennzoil kinda like Robert Yates Racing did a few years ago with the Havoline car. I didn't figure it would last any longer than one season, but I thought it was a done deal. Can you direct me where to get the info you have, so I can read more about this?

UPDATE 3: Norris said that Wallace is guaranteed a ride in a DEI car only in the season-opening Bud Shootout at Daytona and that if Park is ready to return when the 2002 season opens the team would not field four Cup cars on a full-time basis.(That's Racin') AND The contract guarantees Wallace nothing except a ride in the 2002 Budweiser Shootout, but he will be paid handsomely. The money and a shot at winning convinced Wallace not to accept a two-year deal to drive for another team, apparently A.J. Foyt’s.[#14]
