How many gals is my 09 fuel tank? I had between 1/4 and 1/2 tank and took 13 gal to fill. I thought it was 26 gals. So something doesn t add up.

26 is the dry capacity, unless you completely run out of gas, you will probably only get about 18-20 gallons back in

I have had mine dry enough to put almost 24 gallons in and I thought I wasn't going to make it to a gas station beforehand. Unless I closed my eyes, I don't think I could ever run out of gas unintentionally.

thats adds up a little better. Thanks. I remember my NBS 07 had accuracy problems with the guage but I would assume that has been corrected in an 09.

You would think they could get accuracy a little better, but it seems like nearly every car or truck I ever owned from any manufacturer has its problems that way.

The Mustang in the sig would get stuck at 1/8 tank when I bought it

The Toyota has a an inverted "u" shaped tank for the driveshaft to go through in AWD models. Needle literally bobs up and down like a yo yo.

The dodge I had gave me a POS 230 mile range and the empty chime and light would flash 90 miles before empty

the list goes on :)

I believe it's intentional for two reasons- the range of the float as it swings up and down, and of course so the people who like to really get the most out of their tank don't run out as soon as it hits E.

Twice in my 07 I was so close to running out the DIC couldn't tell me how many miles I had left, those fill ups were 24.535 and 24.324 gallons.

thanks, I will let it be then cause less than 1/2 took 13 gal.. 13 gals would be more than 1/2 tank at 24 gals.

half of 26 is 13. The "reserve" fuel doesn't register on the gauge. When mine reads empty there is still about 2.5 gallons in the tank.
