I'm starting to get into Golfing. I was wondering if anyboy does some golfing themselves.

Mainly, All I want to get into right now is the driving range. I don't know if I have the patience to actually go out and look for the Golf Balls after a I hit them. LOL

So who else here likes to "swing a few"???

The only time I have fun playing golf is when beer is involved.  Other then that, I tend to get really pissed off.  Thats probably why I haven't played in over a year.  hapfac01.gif

Only been on a course once in my life, actually had a decent time.  Other than that the extent of my game involves taking my clubs to our backyard and just whacking balls into the hay field.  Recovery rate is about 35%.

I go to the driving range occasionally and go mini-golfing, but I really don't have the time or patience to play 18 holes.  I just do it more for fun and everyone else I know is too competitive.

Thats as addictive/expensive as dressing up my truck for me..

I ve been playing since i was 4 years old *PICS TO PROVE IT*

I love it.. I know a lot of people find it boring but i just love going out with a few friends for the morning and playing a round of golf..

I was really into the competition part for the last few years.. At one time i was a 4 handicap but because of my busy schedule its gone up to about an 8...  I dont like playing tournament golf with the guys in that kind of league because they are real unsportsman about it... They will do anything/everything to win.. Actually i find the parents of the kids are worse.. I find the guys i play with dont really care about major competition but the parents are like WAY TOO INTO IT!!

Best game to pickup IMO its relaxing and its fun...

Me and my friends are leaving Sunday for Gulf Shores, AL. 5 days of nothing but golf, adult beverages, and good times. I flew one in the hole with a pitching wedge from 115 yards Wed. for an eagle. First time I have ever holed out for an eagle. My other 2 eagles came on par 5's and I had to make a putt.  YEEHAW, boy did that feel good!

A couple years ago my son started playing with high school friends.  I'd never played, so we'd go to the driving range together.  He could smash the ball, but with a wicked hook.  I couldn't get the same distance, but I managed to keep it straighter.  We set the next spring for him to take me on a course.

Before we could get out the next spring I fell from a ladder and shattered my heel.  I spent some time in a wheelchair and still can't walk well on uneven ground, but I'll get out on a course sometime in the next couple of years.  I predict I'll be able to play before my son gets rid of his hook!

I didn't know you could play golf with-out beer.  I remember one hot summer day (mid 90*'s) where I drank at least one beer a hole....  My golf didn't get much better, but driving the cart sure was more fun!!!   LOL

I've been playing for years, started in my early teens, just knocking a ball around the city park across the street.

I've continued to play thru the years, usually getting out 3 or 4 times a year up until the past 2 years when my wife and I got into a couples league, playing at a little par-3 course, 9 holes each week.  It was fun, but I still prefer being able to bang a few shots with the driver and 3 wood! ;)

It can be an expensive hobby, depending on where you can find to play.  And the time factor doesn't always fit in with everything else that seems to be going on.

Gotta have a few beers while on the course though.  Or better yet, maybe the girls in the short-shorts driving the drink cart catch up with ya a few times while out there!!

I only golf after I get my butt handed to me by the fish in Lake Michigan.  Doesn't happen too often.  With that said I find I enjoy actually walking 9 or 18 holes more than the driving range.  Pick the clubs you can hit the straightest to start with.  Don't worry about burning worms as long as it's right down the middle.

Started playing about 15 yrs ago and got fairly good and was hitting in the high 80s/low 90s but dang it got to be too expensive.  My buddies (who were better golfers) always insisted on going to big$$ courses and it just frustrated me because usually big$$ courses are longer and harder and my score sucked.  So now I've all but given it up-got out only ywice this past year and those were scramble tournaments.

The good news is that I spend even more time fishing/hunting-which is what I grew up doing anyway.  Never touched a golf club until I was 20.

Nice thing is that when you screw up a shot at a big buck or lose a nice bass there's noone around to hear you swear and see you start throwing equipment against trees!!
