I Feel Stupid...

So I had one of the HIDs go out on me the other day. I just pulled the truck in the garage and went to work testing the bulbs and ballasts.

My stupid questions is, on a 2006 sierra are the low beams the inner or outer lights?

I bought the truck used and it had all the wiring redone for the HIDs so I don't know if they installed them correctly. Sylvania says 9006 are low and 9005 are high. the dead light is in the inner spot and its a 2005. Im confused... HELP!

TYPICALLY outers are low beam and inners are high beam. I guess it depends on how yours was rewired.

Thats what I thought. Does anyone see anything wrong with me switching them back around? I know the headlight housing has the clear lense on the inside and the more diffused cover on the outside.

If the wiring reaches and the bulbs fit the sockets I'd try it. Can't hurt to try.

Maybe the previous owner was getting flashed all the time so he moved them inside so it would take the light inward a little?

Since you have the headlight that has the diffuser in the lowbeam, I would try the diffused side. The clear (high beam) has a focal point that is slightly different and it is aimed higher which may lead to you getting flashed.

The Silverado headlight does not have that "issue"
