We have a 1963 GMC K20 4X4 with a 305 V6 and want to swap it out with a small block chevrolet. The question is who makes the conversion motor mounts for this swap? We have contacted over 35 companies with no luck so far. Any help with imformation of some company thats makes these will be a big help.

Do you need much conversion? :shakehead:

They offered a small block in that truck. Can you not just buy the mounts for a small block?

Frames were the same. All you should need are the bolt in small block motor mounts. YOu may have to fabricate a rear crossmember but that's part of any custom engine swap.

EDIT: OH YEAH! Welcome to the ZOO!

That's a cool old truck!

I wish it were that easy. The only three engines that were offered for 1960 to 1966 GMC trucks were the two inline 6 cylinder versions (230, 250 cdi) and the 305cdi V6 which is about 6" to 8" wider than a small block chevrolet. On a 4X4 there is no crossmember below the engine making it even that much more difficult to fab somthing up. (but it can be done) just hoping that someone out there has done the same conversion and has an easy answer.

In the bigger trucks of that era...they had some V6's with well over 400 cubic inches.

They were LONG STROKE and made BIG torque numbers.

One of them may fit easier.

It is rare, but they did make a V6 diesel too.

You would THINK that since the Chevrolet (which was basically the same truck) had small block V8 options, you'd be able to use whatever they used for them. I doubt seriously that GMC used a totally different frame.
