Service Air Bag ?

I have been getting a red warning light on my dash and Sevice Air Bag on my Info center......the light is generally on but sometimes it will go off for a while.

 

Any ideas ?? What should I check?

I don't know about your specific vehicle... But generally there is an electronic module which monitors all the wiring on air bag systems.

 

Sometimes you can jumper certain connections and the air bag light will flash a certain code telling you specifically where the trouble is. Or these codes would be able to be read by a code reader. I don't know if a regular code reader would read these codes or if you need a special code reader for this?

 

As to being able to get the air bag light to read out the code(s) (or not) by jumpering connections or some other means, and what the codes mean, this would be in a factory service manual. But then again, the factory service manual may say you can only use a certain code scanner to read the codes?

 

But it should list the codes, what they mean, and how to troubleshoot these things. Sometimes some electrical stuff is in the factory service manual and other parts are in a separate electrical diagrams manual. So you might need both books in some situations.
