Periodical Overheating

I have a 2004 2500hd witha 6L gas engine. with about 77k. Truck was overheating about 7k miles ago so I changed the Thermostat. refilled and bled the radiator. everything was great. Now, just yesterday my wife called me and said that it overheated and the sensor went to about 260 within 3 miles. I changed the fan belt since it had been squeling for about 10k at first start up. What am I looking at as the next remedy. Water pump? radiator? cooling system flush? Please help

Sounds like a cooling fan not operating. Aren't they electric on that truck? If so, next time it heats up check and make darn sure it's on. If not, try switching on the AC to see if it comes on.

 

Older trucks had similar problems with dying fan clutches.

sorry for posting in the wrong forum!! I didnt even think to check the fan. I will next time it oveheats.
