Wheel And Tire Size

i have a 2004 silverado z71. it has factory 17 inch tires on it now. im going to buy new wheels in a few days. i have had some people tell me to just go back with 17inch and maybe a 9inch with. i have had some say drop down to a 16 inch either 9 or even 10 inch width that there are more options and cheaper tire prices at 16inch. i plan on upgrading to around a 285 series either way. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

iam looking for that more aggresive look that kinda stick out past the fender wells a little. didnt know if a 9 inch wheel would do that or not. im thinkin factory is 8. thanks for help.

nope, facotry on the 04 would be about 7;5. 9 injces wide would be plenty dpending on the backspaicng. and offset.

are u running factory tire size or bigger?

I have 18x9's with 285/60's. They just barely stick out past the fender flares...

wow that is a sharp ride thats exactly the look im going for. do u have a lift under it also?

Nope, no suspension lift. Just cranked torsion bars...

how many inches did u get out of cranking torsion bars? and did it change the ride comfort alot? p.s. thanks for info...

It raised the front roughly 1.5-2". The ride is a little rougher than stock, but it really isnt bad at all and doesnt bother me.

I still have about a 1/2" of rake (rear higher than front)

Back in college I put on a set of 33x12.5's with 17x8 wheels that had 4.5" backspace on my 05 and they fit perfect. I had to crank the torsion bars 1.5-2" to get them to fit. If I can find the pics ill post them tonight.

For what its worth, I hated the ride. I said "its not that bad, it rides like a truck now" after I first did it. But after about two months of it I couldn't stand it anymore, the ride sucked! So I went and put on a suspension lift....

If I had to do it all over again, I'd just throw on a 2" body lift... But that's just my experience with it
