For The Mobil 1 Guys

After years of running conventional, I think I've read enough information to where I want to give Mobil 1 a shot. Looks like I have three choices though; The standard Mobil 1, Mobil 1 Truck & SUV, and Mobil 1 Extended Performance (EP).

Which one do you recommend?

Have about 19.5k/mi on my 2wd rig. 60 city/40 hwy driving.

Truck & SUV. Buy it at WallyWorld as they have it in 5 quart jugs, if you can find it. Last year's hurricanes almost wiped out the Mobil 1 production and they only just started to catch up on the backorders. Mobil 1 also has one of the best oil filters on the market, a little pricey but worth the extra cost.

FWIW, while your at it, change the trans fluid to Mobil 1 Dexron VI, gear oil to Mobil 1 and, if you have a 4x4, change the transfer case fluid to Mobil 1 ATF.

Go ahead and change to synthetic (the popular brand in your area), I just did & noticed engine sound smooth and better fuel economy and better overall performance!

Don't buy into the multiple types of synthetic they offer, it's for sales. Synthetic oil is synthetic oil.

+1

Marketing pure and simple.

I use the standard Mobil1 5W30.

Like buying a schwinn or mongoose bicycle from Wal-Mart, you done get the same quality, then if you were to buy from a bike shop, the manufactures make cheaper versions, targeting people with less money. ... You don't think it's not the same with oil right? I am probably way off here, but I guess I just don't trust Wal-Mart. I usually try to buy my cases of Mobile 1 at a VIP or advanced.

Same here i use the OG mobil oil 5w-30 with a wix napa gold filter.

My current oil fill is Mobil 1 10w-30 with extended performance and the filter.

Just get the normal 5-quart jug at Walmart and another quart. I've never seen a Mobil 1 filter at Walmart so I have to stop at Checker or Autozone on my way back to the house.

Acording to M1 the additive package is different in the Truck and SUV oil, kind of like the additive package

that is found in diesel oil the likes of Shell Rotella and others.

Don't know about the other 'specialty" M1 oils, but I would bet it's about additive packages just like in gasoline.

Correct.. The M1 Syn oils are all very similar except the additive packages. Some are stronger than others. The T@SUV is more stout than regular Mobil 1. The High Mileage oils are stronger yet. The EP falls right in line.

I am currently running T@SUV 5W-30 with a M1 oil filter. I change when the OLM reads 10% or 6K miles.

You have found M1 Dexron VI in stores? You must fill me in on your secret stash, I cannot find this stuff anywhere. I found 1 scary looking obscure site that sold it, but I wouldn't trust them. Everywhere I go no one carries it, and no one even knows it exists, I even went to Burbank Auto Parts, they almost have more oil than Pep Boys.
