Tonneau Cover?

Hi,

There are so many. I don't know what to get and know nothing about them? Snap, velcro or the tri fold up? Does anyone have experience with these and tell me what ones are junk and what's good.

I Hate hate hate snaps. NEVER WILL I ever have a tonneau cover with snaps again. Just a major pain. I've had several different kinds over the years and my favorite has always been Extang. Tilt or no tilt, either way they make one of the best durable covers. I've got the extang full tilt with the smooth sides and I'm VERY happy with it. I like the idea of 10 second full removal, ability to roll it up, and quick easy access to the entire back of the truck.

I also like Extang Tonneau covers and I went with the Extang RT cover for my 2006 GMC. This particular cover is a low profile cover that has tension adjustment, support bars that roll up with the cover, and Velcro side seals. I have only had it about 1 month now, but I'm quite happy with it so far. It opens easily with just one person and it looks decent when rolled up. It closes just as easily by on rolling all the way back and then snaps in to the rear mounting position, then you just pull the sides tight and attach to the Velcro covered side rails. The cover mounts to top inside box rails with clamps, so there is no drilling and the 4 clamps also have tie-downs on them that you can use to secure items in your bed. Since the cover mounts to the inside top box rails you still have access to the stake pockets, so you can mount bed rails or ladder racks and still use your cover. These cover has a life time warranty as well and I've heard good things about Extangs customer service.

I am also a fan of extang. Had them on my last 2 trucks. I have the Tuff Tonno 3 but if I had to do again I would get the Trifecta.

I had an Extang on my last truck, and I have an Access on this one. You can't really go wrong with any of the major brands. Do some research into the features and take into account how you use tour truck bed and go from there.

The one thing i would say is to stay away form snaps no matter the brand. They're just a pain all year round, and really really bad in the winter if you're in the northern half of the country.

Extang Revolution FTMFW. Rolls up nicely with the support bars, and no velcro of snaps to mess with. Keeps everything inside nice and dry.

I have the same set up...lays down flat, with no brack humps in the middle. A breeze to roll up...

here is a pic of it. As you can see, it lays flat...

I just put on a Bakflip cover this week. I cannot give it a review yet because of how new it is but the reason I purchased it was because a co-worker has one and gave it good reviews. It was an easy install. Sorry this is the only picture I have right now.

I just put on a Bakflip cover this week. I cannot give it a review yet because of how new it is but the reason I purchased it was because a co-worker has one and gave it good reviews. It was an easy install. Sorry this is the only picture I have right now.

I've had the G2 for about a year. Pretty solid. Easy install. Can take it off in about 2 minutes with two nuts (no tools).

Folds up nice to allow for full box. It folds across the back windshield so you can't use your rear view mirror.

The only minor annoyance is the fold marks on the rubber seal...a little wear at each pannel. No biggie and I guess it's to be expected.

It looks good, Keeps the box about 99+% dry. I leave stuff in there all the time now.

Chicks dig it (or at least the wife).

I have a Fold a cover G4 and I love it, for the most part it's water tight but there are some minor annoyances like the rear weatherstrip seal I think could have used more R&D. But I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again, I have the optional cargo organizer with it and it's great.

I have a Truxedo Low Pro QT and love it. I sell them at work and they have always been a quality product. This model is a lifetime warranty on EVERY PART as well. I have had one "defect" in 83 covers that I have personally sold and it was a torn cover that the guy admitted to poking a screwdriver thru when he left a tool box open under the cover. I called it in and they sent us a new cover. They did not even want to see or get the bad cover back. Now THAT is great customer service!

Had the Pace Edwards on my last truck and the Bakflip HD on this truck.

Both are great covers with pro's & cons. I went with the bakflip this time because the pace edwards takes up some bed space (about 8") and our 5.5' box is already short enough.

The FIRST cover i ever bought was the Extang Fulltilt.... this is probably the best 'soft' cover IMO. It lifts up like a solid hard cover, rolls up like a soft cover, or can be taken off in one piece in less than a minute. I went to the hard covers because i didnt want to worry about luggage and skis getting stolen out of my bed on trips.

I had an Access Lorado cover on mine prior to getting the shell. Seemed well made and worked well. Kept all but the most intense car wash water out too.
