Fog Light Question

I really love the fog lights on my GMT 900..Just one question, is there a way to have the fog lights turn on when the head lights come on? Right now I only know of the button, but you have to press it each time you start the truck up....

you use diodes to connect the circuits or the better method, use some sort of relay...

I wonder if taping the button down would work. I would expect the module to want a low -> high (or vise versa) transition. Who knows, I'd try and hold down my fog button as I started the vehicle.... but I don't have fog lights.

I just cut the factory headlight wires, picked up 2 weatherpack connectors the connect to the back of the fog lights and wired them straight into the head lights. Now they come on as soon as the headlights do. and best of all i used the factory fog light wiring for a pair of 240 Light forces! works out great.

The right way to do this would be to look at a factory electrical diagram (order from dealer) and see if there is a fog light relay. Then to divert power to that relay so the fog lights are always on. This would be the best way to do it as the fog lights would remain on their circuit/fuse as designed. And you will not have fuse blowing problems.

 

Another possible problem would be that the relay coil power circuit is monitored by a computer in some way. And disconnecting the relay from a computer would make cause a diagnostic trouble code. If this is the case, you could measure the resistance of the relay coil and place a same value resistor in its place. (Before bypassing to power always on.)
