Squeeling While Accelerating

don't want to beat a dead horse.... but I'm completely out of ideas...

02 5.3 Z71.

The truck always had an occasional squeeling noise once everything was warmed up... but it would only come when you accelerate.

The problem is getting worse, and now I have to hear that lovely sound every day... and it's annoying the hell out of me.

Brakes on all 4 corners, and front wheel bearings have been replaced, along with greasing every fitting I could find.

Is it possible that the squeeling is coming from the u-joints? truck has 230xxxkm on it, and as far as I know they're original.

thanks in advance

if you have replaced all of that stuff already it wouldnt cost that much more to replace the u-joints and especially if the truck has that many miles..

I would check the sway bar end links and bushings too. They make a nice metalic squeak when they are worn and are cheap to replace.

did you check the belt, maybe it's slipping under load

belt looks good to me, I sprayed it down with belt dressing... but the squeel still came back.

I'll try replacing the u-joints, and see how that goes

Belt dressing is not a good idea. Your belt tensioner spring could be getting weak and this may cause belt slipping under load.

Could be contaminates on the belt, such as coolant. I had this problem on my old truck. I tried several different belts before knowing this, making the chirp/squeal go away. Ended up getting a Goodyear Gator or something like that, no more chirping even though I was still having mild coolant loss (leaky fitting somewhere). Is the squealing noticable at idle? If so spray some water on the belt, if it goes away temporarily (few seconds) it is a belt problem. You said you used belt dressing, but didn't mention if it stopped the squealing.

I can't hear the noise if the truck isn't moving.

Only comes while I'm driving, the belt dressing didn't do a thing

Can't be that expensive to replace, so I'll try that and see what happens...

keep the ideas coming guys
