'01 Tahoe Inner Tie-rods.....

Dealer told my mother-in-law they needed changed when they checked the truck at the last oil change.

I looked and they do have excessive play.

So my haynes manual says the centerlink is a one-piece deal and the tie-rod ends are the only other parts you can replace. However, I found at least three places that sell the inner tie-rods.

So which is it....do I need to replace the whole center link to do this job or just the inner tie-rods...?

I don't want her to have to spend more than she needs too. They've lost most of their retirement investments and are relying on a pension and military disability.

Depends on if it's 2wd or 4wd. 2wd trucks have rack and pinion steering which would have inner tie rods.

4wd. There is an inner joint, but I don't know if it is serviceable.....

They sell them so they must be and they look simple enough to change...(btw, rack and pinion systems don't use inner tie rods)
