Hey guys, just wanted to say "Hi". I am almost an owner of an 07 Sierra Denali and can't wait. My Jeep SRT8 should be sold any day now and am just counting the seconds. I've been a previous GM owner and can't wait to get back. I had an 03 H2 a few years back and loved it, but was young and dumb and traded it in for a Lexus. Then a POS Range Rover, then my Jeep, now back in the fold.

Can't wait to start modding too. First up is 20% tint in front, exhaust, maybe CAI, then probably a 3" lift with some 20's and 33" tires. It's 2wd but damnit its gonna look like an 4wd.

This looks like a great place for information and can't wait to learn.

Chris

Welcome...and nice Denali!

Why did you get rid of the SRT8?

Thanks. The SRT8 is great and a TON of fun, but it's just not very practical. I want to be able to go down dirt roads and maybe hop a curb here and there. I picked up fishing as a hobby (addiction really) and I can't take my Jeep to any of the places I like to go. Besides, I'm a car whore and just need to get something new every few years. Since 2003 I have had a Chrysler Sebring, Hummer H2, Lexus GS300, Range Rover, Jeep SRT8, and soon the Denali.

Looking to keep the truck forever though. Here's a pic of the Jeep

Welcome.

Depending on your wheel and tire setup you may have to trim a little for those 33s.

I had to trim.... I think 1-1.5" more would've cleared my tires perfectly but I didn't want to use a leveling kit on my awd denali.

Yea, I don't mind trimming a bit. I also don't want to get too extreme of a lift and I think 3" may be perfect. Also depends on how much I want to keep the truck in the garage whether I will do the lift at all. My stock H2 fit in the garage perfectly and it had 35" tires and a roof rack so I think a 2wd SD lifted 3" might fit. Only one way to find out though, right?!?

Is there gonna be any difference in the kit for a 2wd than a 4wd?

Thanks for any input.

It depends on what kind of lift you do. I don't think there are any full-out 3" suspension lifts out there, just glorified leveling kits.... unless someone makes a 3" spindle lift for the 2WD trucks.

There are 2 and 2.5" leveling kits, and i think there is a 3" lift (leveling kit) that comes with new upper control arms... but it seems to be getting bad reviews (Rough Country).

I'm running the 3" body lift, and like i said, i had to trim... so be careful if you get a 2.5" leveling kit only, i wouldn't have been able to fit my wheel/tire setup.

You have a ton of options still though.... On your truck you can do any combination of the following:

Body lifts: 1.5" and 3"

Levling kits: .5", 1", 1.5", 2" and 2.5"

OR you could get a 4.0" suspension system (CST, Rancho, and a few others)

I may try adding a 1" spacer to my front for a little more clearance over my tires... but i dont rub anymore so im in no rush. I think the trucks should come like this STOCK!

I just checked out the 2WD kits.... CTS has a 4.5" Spindle kit, it comes with 3.5" lift spindles AND a 1.0" spacer. I highly recommend getting this kit! You can leave the spacer out so you'll get 3.5" of lift... and if you need more height you have the option of trimming OR adding in the spacer. Or you can just save the spacer for when you get the urge to lift it some more (like we ALL know happens  )

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me! :dunno:

I'm a diehard GM guy...it's all I'll own, but I must admit...those SRT8 Cherokees are damn sexy!

Funny, I don't even own this truck yet and I can think of $4k of stuff I want for it already.

Thanks. I still love the SRT8's, but there just isn't many places where you can use it's full potential. Going 135 in an SUV with a LOT of pedal left is an experience I will never forget though.

Hopefully this guy buys my truck and I'll have the Denali in my driveway by Friday! **fingers crossed**

Welcome.

Should have got the TBSS!!! If I wasn't at work, I'd post some of my "working" pics lol! Huntin, fishin, you name it!!! Granted it ain't no where near as fast in stock form and I can't tow like I used to be able to, but it still gets me through the winters and down the dirt roads lol!

Well after trying to sell the SRT8 for a couple months I finally gave in and traded it in. Picking up my 07 Sierra Denali this afternoon (same one in my avatar & sig). Will take some better pics over the weekend. Extremely excited!

I LOVE new car day!
