Local Parts Stores

Anyone else ever go searching your local parts stores to find none of them ever have what your looking for. For example, I had to order a set of Bilstein shocks for my truck on line. The Bilstein east coast sales office is about 3 miles from my house and there isn't a parts store with in 20 miles that carries Bilstein. Ever try to get Mobile 1 Dexron VI? It's easier to find the Holy Grail. Never mind trying to change your transmission fluid and transfer case fluid and you can't get more than 6 quarts of any brand of Dexron VI. I found one store with 13 quarts of Castrol Dexron VI about 7 miles from my house. For the love of God, most of my local parts stores don't even carry Trans Filters. I think its kind of funny that you can go buy any of 8+ brands of oil never mind the viscocity and you can only pick from at most 3 maybe 4 brands of trans fluid. I remember when I would walk into a local parts store and walk out with exactly what I was looking for almost every time. Now you can't get anything but their private label parts, that are made by God knows who, in what forgotten corner of the world. I think its amazing.

I found M1 Dexron VI on some obscure website once. Didn't trust that site. Other than that, impossible to find like you said. I hate trying to buy parts from stores. They always want to sell you some other version that is "just the same".

Most of the local chain parts stores suck. On a side note, I did not know till a manager told me that Murrays and and Advance auto parts is one company. In my town, they built a Murrays two years ago, and then last year, across the street they built a Advance auto part store. How stupid is that? Murrays is usually always dead, dont go there myself, never have anything.
