Power Drivers Seat

Hey got a question for the interior guys around here.

Im a taller fellow. I have found that trucks are a lot more comfortable for me to drive when they have the adjustable seat where i can tilt the bottom cushion up in the front to allow for better support of my legs.

Well my new work truck a 2009 2500HD doesnt have the power drivers seat like my last work truck did. Is there a easy way to change this around or at least do something to make this more comfortable to drive. I put on a lot of miles and it just kills my legs when ive been driving for a bit.

Thanks for any ideas you can give me.

You would need to check to see if your existing seat had anything electrical in it.

Then get the power drivers seat, hopefully which would have the controls for the seat mounted on the seat and not elsewhere like the door. Then all you should need is power.

Then you would be best to get a factory wiring diagram manual for your vehicle (order from GM dealer) and see how this option would be connected to the fuse box. What wiring harness(es) would be used. And if you already have that or not.

And you might be able to go to a wrecking yard and find a wiring harness if that was needed. Or see how this was connected on another vehicle. Maybe even get a seat?

Or if you don't know how to do electrical work, you could have a GM dealer install the wiring, or an auto electric shop, or maybe an auto stereo shop.

It would be *very* important to use the correct size wire and fuse and for this to be on a proper circuit. And to also not overload any other circuit and create a "fuse blowing problem". And to not mess up any existing wiring.

Vehicles these days have up to 24 different computers on two or three "local area computer networks". If the fuses to certain of these electronic gizmos blow, then your vehicle will no longer run. Or if a computer network wire is damaged/shorted, there is a good chance the vehicle will no longer run!

So the days of splicing into "any old wire" are long gone. Best to know exactly what you are connecting to, the amperage draws, etc.

I'm pretty sure my 2008 had the harnesses already there (I took my front seats out to swap out the center seat). Check to see what harnesses are there - I would assume that if it was there all you need to do is plug it in to get power.
