Tailgate Seal?

Recommended Posts

I'm about to buy a Snugtop for my 08 and I'm wondering if the Agricover seal kit is still the best seal for the tailgate.

Thanks

I have a box liner in my 09, would it be advisable to remove it and install the above product before putting it back in?

I got the trail seal with my cover. I love it, although I had to add some glue in some places. It doesn't stick too well to spray-liners. After I did that, its basically water-tight.

I am curious, will the seal work with a spray in bed liner.

Did you read my post above? HAHA, it sticks relatively well for a little while. I added some adhesive to the sections that were not sticking as well. All is good now.

Any idea on the above question?

When you say box liner, I guess you are talking about the plastic bed liner. It would depend on whether it is over the rail or under the rail. The Trailseal Total Bed Seal has parts that go up under the bed rail to seal off some openings associated with the stake bed holes. It also has some seals that go around the edge in the front of the bed to seal gaps there. Then there are the seals that go around the tailgate opening. If your box liner covers all of these areas, then I don't see why you would want to buy the TBS.

Thanks, my box liner does go under the rail, I was thinking maybe when I am washing it underneath or driving in the rain etc that water could come in those places that the agricover is suppose to seal up, even with a box liner?

The next time I am washing it I am going to roll up the tonneau and have a look and see if I can see any coming in? If so, I may just purchase the kit or something similar? Thanks :smoker:

J-man, how was the seal placed around the tailgate? I bought the Total Bed Seal today, and when I put the seals around the tailgate, it caused the tailgate to bind. I'm thinking my Line-X is making the gaps smaller and the seal is too think - thus causing the tailgate to bind on the latches. I tried repositioning the seals but that didn't really help, and now the tape on the seals are all messed up due to pulling them off a couple of times.. I'm really disappointed in this product. I followed their instructions that came with the kit but it didn't work for me.

Phil, I also bought the seal kit, and it didn't really work all that great with my Rhino Liner, I'finally got it to work ok, and plus I had to adjust the tailgate latches anyway from my rhino liner, because you had to push in on the gate to get it open, which was a pain

I put one one and I have line-x bed and it stuck for about 2 weeks to the line-x then it started to sag and then before knew it was being taken off because the tailgate was not closing right. I got it for free with my trexudo so I dunno if that helps any. I would be willing to try one again if I knew that it would last longer.
