I always read the manuals.

Thats what they are for.

Jim, I asked this in another post but never got a response.... Does the SR in the background of your photo have any significance?

Yes. Both vehicles travel at roughly the same speed. :smoker:

Not really...except that I think it is about the coolest plane ever built. :smoker::lol:

I saw one take off one time, from Kadena AFB in Guam in 1964.

It was amazing.

Goes down the runway a little way...lifts off...pulls the gear up...sets it on its tail and with an almost unbelievable sound...goes almost straight up till he is out of sight.:D:D:D

I can still see it in my mind. Unforgettable.

This one is parked at the entrance to Eglin AFB in Florida...where I was stationed ... way back in 1963 to 1965.

I was on vacation during this past Christmas / New Years holiday and decided to drive down there from Fort Worth (didn't have anything better to do) and see if the house where I lived was still there and to go on the base and see the flight line where I used to work.

Couldn't get on the base...tight security since 9/11, but the SR71 was sitting there in a little museum area...and I couldn't resist taking the picture.

Too bad it was overcast and raining a little bit.

Otherwise it would have been a better picture.

I generally read it soon after I get the vehicle, my wife on the other hand will not drive a new vehicle home. She has to read the manual before she drives it, test drives don't count, she's a strange one. :smoker:

You know,I thought that background kinda' looked familiar,My uncle was stationed, and still works at Eglin AFB! (He retired from the Air Force but still works on base as a "civilian") I've been there a few times.

BTW....I read the manual, although I usually pretty much know how everything works beforehand.

I watched them launch many times out of Mildenhall AB, England.....thought maybe you had worked or flown on the old girl. Definitely one of a kind.

There are often a few tips in them that can help you use features to their fullest (like the DIC)

I Read 'Em.
