Need Help! Installed 3" Ready Lift Rear Blocks

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had ready lifts 3" rear blocks put on my 2008 Sierra today. Before installing the hight in the back was check and the same for both sides. After the 3" blocks are installed one side is 1" higher than the other. Myself and the guy helping can not figure out why. the blocks measure out to be the same and both are installed correctly cause we have triple check everything. I called ready lift they said to heck and make sure that the block are turned the right way since there tapered. So we checked again just to make sure and they are turned right. Next he said a shock could be blown?! So here I am needing some info and what is going on? Did something happen to the leaf spring cause the instructions tell you to use a jack and rase up the truck by the leaf spring to be able to pull out the stock block or could it be the shock he mentioned? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is going to sound....Well...Kind of dumb..But you did remove the stock block on that side right? Sorry just thought I would ask because they are 1" blocks.

Are you sure???

It's very odd to have a truck that measures exactly the same on both sides. An inch of variation is normal... and it also very dependent of how much gas is in your gas tank.

Did you fill up your tank after you put in the block and then remeasured?

Was it 1 inch low on that side prior to installing the blocks???

Here's the update...I just got back from taking the 3" blocks back (with everything being installed right with the old blocks gone and no fill ups) of and put the stock blocks back and its still off. Before I put them on I measured both sides from the bottom of the well to the bottom of the fender and both sides were 32 5/8 with the left being just a fraction higher. Now that there back to stock the drivers side is 32 5/8 and the passanger side is 33 5/8. I know for some they will never notice but I can tell it especially when sitting on leaveling ground its very noticeable to me I just can't figure out what happened neither can the guy that helped me put them on. Is it possible that something happened to the shock? I've never had one go bad so I'm not for sure what it would do? I'm open to all input at this point!! Thanks for all the replys so far!

It's Normal. You mis-measured before. You did not break anything. A bad shock will not change the height of the truck, a bad spring will. But 1" difference is normal.

What side is lower, driver or passenger?

How much gas is in the tank?

I actually checked the tires  ! Well maybe I did get the first measurements wrong...but the drivers side is lower and I have about a quarter of a tank right now.

how are your front measurements? if one side of the front is higher for another reason, it will affect the rear as well.

I just added a bds 6" lift to my truck and when I was adding my blocks the directions said to make sure the F is facing forward and B facing backwards. You might want to check to see if your blocks have a forward or back indicator. Just a thought.

The front is pretty close to even.I put a 2.5" leveling kit on the front and so far so good with it. Its probably been off like that the hole time but now that I know it for sure its killing me cause now I can tell.

anyone else have a truck off in the back like this?
