blocksbikes Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I just recently purchased a 2004 Sierra SLT 2500 crew truck. The owner before me had extra helper springs in the rear becuase he was towing a 5th wheel, so in turn because that brough the back of the truck up 3-4" he adjusted the front torsion bars to match the height of the rear. The rear of the truck was way to stiff for my use so I cut the leaf springs at the axle and left the lift of the truck the same because of the larger tires he installed. It made the rear of the truck ride a lot better. Now I notice that i am getting a lot stiffer ride up front because of the torsion bars being cranked up. Plus the shocks on the front which I sure are the originals are topping out when i go over bumps or rumble strips. I am getting a lot of rode jack from the front end as well when I hit bumps in the rode. How can I keep the same height in the front without backing off the torsion bars and should I have longer shocks on the truck front and back to smooth out the ride?? I don't expect a 2500 series truck to ride like a catty but would like to get rid of the rode jack and just smooth it out a bit. Cheers
Spurshot Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Look into the Bilstein longer travel shocks. They have models specifically for additional travel. Also, check to see if the upper limit of the suspension stops is topping out.

You got me stumped there. Cheers, D

Also would it be a good idea to put a leveling kit on the front end to bring it up instead of cranking the torsion bars to smooth out the ride a bit? Than guys
