Thought I would pass this along....

 

I am planning to change the tranny fluid in my 07 Classic with the 4L80E (?) at 20k miles.

 

I checked a few auto parts places and the dealer (ugh!) for Dexron VI and a filter kit...ouch!

 

I went to Amazon.com and got a six pack of Pennzoil dexron VI for $33 and a Wix Tranny filter for $17...free shipping and no sales tax....

 

Seemed like a good deal to me....

 

By the way, it just occurred to me that I have six quarts comiing...is that enough?? Do I need more??????

My guess would b 8, why pennzoil? theres real oil out there, I wouldn't use that stuff for a chain lube. IMO

I don't get why pennzoil gets such a bad rap....in the old days, it did create a lot of sludge, but that was in the 70's.

 

At BOBISTHEOILGUY.com, a well know and values lubrication site, Pennzoil ranks as one of the highest lubricants, both for motor oil and transmission fluid.

 

I had an 88 silverado with 240,000+ miles and the engine was perfect and used no oil....pretty clean inside....eventually the body rotted off and the tranny went out...still ran good....I dunno

If your just pulling the pan that might be enough but thats cutting it close i think. You dont always know how much fluid is going to come out.

6 Qts for trans fluid may "just by the skin 'o your teeth" make it, if your not gonna flush. If you're gonna flush, pick up another order.
