hey. i came home from work yesterday and smelled an awful smell. my right front rotor was smoking. so, i took the wheel off and it looks like the brake pads are stuck on the rotors. does this mean my caliper is frozen? how much is a new capliper? i just had new rotors and pads put on 12,000 miles ago. they are pretty much brand new.

Sounds like a frozen caliper. It could be the slides need to be cleaned and lubricated with the proper caliper lube. How old is this caliper? How many miles? It may be due for replacement anyway. For pricing all your local parts places.

By lube, use synthetic brake grease, NOT anti seize. Do all corners 3 or 4 times a year depending on mileage, and you will not have an issue.
