Tire And Rim Question

When I bought my 2000 Siverado K1500 it had a lift kit on it, and different tires and rims. Stock tires were 245 75 R16(or I suppose), but the former owner put custom rims and BFGoodrich tires. They are 295 75 R16 All-Terrian TA/KO tires. I just bought a 2005 Suburban that came with some real nice chrome rims, and the owner gave me the orginal aluminum rims. The originals are 17 inch rims, but have the same bolt pattern as the 16s.

I hate the rims on my 2000, they are custom, but are pitted and overall look like crap. I want to put the the 17s on, but can't seem to find a tire that is compareable in over all diameter. I would like to stick with the BFGoodrich TA/KO tires, but am kind of lost on what to get. I have looked at tire calculators, but sadly it confuses me. :) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

a 285/70/17 will be your best bet. its a 32.7" tire, and very popular. almost all companies will carry this size. the next closest thing is a 305/70/17, which is a 33.8", but not too many carry that size. your current size is a 33.4". hope this helps
