Need Help

I am 15, and I just bought a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 engine in it. The 5.4 has to be replaced. I live in Western North Carolina and I'm doing this vehicle as a school project as well as to get a vehicle ready for when I turn 16. As I said in the title I need help, I need a replacement 5.3. Is there any places, (junkyards), that you know of that have 5.3s that are in my area? My dad is helping me and we dont mind to drive for a while to get one if we can find one at a reasonable price.

I need this engine to fit without any modifications if possible.

Try looking at E-Bay, craigslist, or your local phone book? Good luck and i sounds like an awesome project.

These are very popular trucks, and you should have no problem finding an engine.. Stay with your year model, and there wiill be no mods needed

I have a friend that owns a used auto parts business in Marion NC. They specialize in truck parts, but I am not sure how their prices compare with others. You can look them up at J&T auto parts, and ask for Brian or Jimmy (brothers, they are the owners, and work the counters)

Thanks everyone for the replies, If I was to buy a different year model 5.3 without a computer am I gonna have any problems or is it going to be a direct fit?
