Sticking In Four Wheel Drive

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've had my '09 truck "stick" in 4 hi two times. Both times, I had to stop, put it in 4 lo, then back to 2 hi to get it to release. My old truck used to do that on dry road, and I'd back up a little to release the stress, and it would disengage. Not this one. I actually drove several miles thinking it was in 2 hi, only to feel it bind a bit on a turn. Any thing I should visit the dealer over, or is it something that will pass as it wears a bit? (5 k miles now).

That's interesting. I posted what was done to fix my 4WD, but now it's gone. The dealer replaced the shift fork, axle, and filed some burs to the gear teeth of the stub shaft. Works fine now, but it was pretty messed up.

The site was done last night...it appears some posts are missing today.

I'm sure I responded to this thread, yet my post is gone. I didn't have much to say though....other than my '07 has done this to me twice and the dealership can't find any trouble.

Yeah, I remember reading your post here Patrick. The forum gremlins must have been at work last night and stole some of the posts.

*read the announcement at the top of the full size topic page, makes more sense now.
