A/c - Heater Blower Unit Question.......

Just a quick question about your trucks blower unit. I have noticed this mainly through out the summer ( with the a/c on ), but it may be happening with the a/c off as well. When I am driving around town and I have the blower up to full power, I notice that it will often power down to a lesser level, yet i have not touched the up or down arrows on the unit. The unit is part of a 2010 LTZ Silverado, so its the digital version, not the dial version. I'm just curious if other have this same issue. Basically I put the blower ( on a/c ) on full blow and when I seem to be slowing down or applying the brakes, the blower will tick down a notch and noticably move less air......basically acting like i hit the down arrow.....but i didnt. It will then kick back up to full power a moment or two later.

Anybody else notice this?

I also had my radio ( while on xm ) switch stations on me a few times since owning the vehicle. I know for a fact that i did not hit any of the radio dash controls and i pretty sure that i did not hit the steering wheel radio controls either.

I'm wonderig if the two are connected and or I have some bad dash units.......

Thoughts?

The blower sounds like it may be the unit switching from recirculate to fresh air. Mine will do this after the truck has cooled down some. I just reach up and put it back on recirculate again to keep fresh air out. One thing I did notice with the unit on fresh air this summer was water dripping off of the AC box under the dash. Put it on recirculate and that did not happen.

About the XM, I have no idea about that. So far mine has stayed put.

Meaning when your alternator and engine go to idle speed and the electricity is less? My '04 Grand Am does this while stopped or at idle....press the gas, speed up the engine again and the juice comes back in full.

Yes, that would be a good way of describing what happens. Should a a brand new truck be doing something like that? Shouldnt the electrical system be a bit more up to par in todays day and age?

My 08 Sierra dims quickly and comes right back when I press the brake pedal (increased elec load for the brake lights)...It's my understanding most new systems are as such. My honda dimmed when the a/c compressor cycled, etc. It's part of fuel saving measures...the alternator supplies only what is needed, reducing the load. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
