2nd row seat won't slide forward

So yesterday when I was trying to load up a bunch of people in my Suburban, the 2nd row seat (passenger side) would not slide forward. It would tilt the back as if it was going to slide - but it wouldn't move. :smash:

If you pull up on the seat bottom and fold the seat (cargo room), everything works fine.

The mechanism uses several cables and latches to change the position of the seat. Unfortunately the coupler that pulls on both of the seat track "claws" broke. :smash: This prevents the seat back tilt cable from pulling on the track claws.

This is definitely worth a trip to the dealer. Can't get back in the third row that easily until it gets fixed. What I am worried about is that they will simply replace it with another cheap plastic coupler. Wish it was made out of stamp steel or something. I will post results from my trek to the dealer.

Anybody else run across this?

Hey Pastor Scott, did you happen to get a part number for that thing? Did they replace that assembly or just the cheap little plastic part? I'm thinking of buying an extra one after the dealer fixes this one.

Sorry dont have the part number for the cover because those little stinkers didnt replace it just crazy glued it. they did replace the cable and some parts but I believe the reason for its early break is because of the lack of protection from that little cheap cover. My wife took it in so I was not there. We live so far and to bring it back for a new cover was a pain (even though I should have), Whats needed is a metal cover to protect it. Im thinking if a way to make one, if I have nay luck Ill let you know.

So today the dealer took a look at the seat bracket. They put the part on order and should be able to replace it later in the week. :)

Here's the whacked thing about this.....Because of the broken 30 cent plastic part, they are going to replace the entire seat track assembly  (pretty much the whole thing that bolts the seat to the floor). Part number is 88976870 (Riser 16.686). Boy am I glad this is under warranty! :sigh:

And finally, the outcome of the trip to the dealer:

Seat track assembly replaced. Here is what it should look like when it is NOT broken.

Keep in mind that the Husky liners in the second row could get stuck under the tracks when pushing the seat forward. Forcing the seat over the liner without tucking it under the track could cause this wimpy little part to break (again).

Anyway, everything works fine now. Good experience with the dealer makes a difference. Just really glad to get my truck back! :D
