Easiest place to tap into switched ACC power on 06

Does anyone know where the best place would be to tap into a switched power supply on a 2006 Silverado WT would be? I've checked the fusebox next to the driver's side door, and the panel next to the passenger's door. There are a few empty fuse sockets, but none of them seem to have a switched power supply.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to pull ACC power from the SEC harness. The connector is underneath the IP just above the brake.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what is the SEC harness, and what is the IP? Will I need to remove the kick panel below the steering wheel to get to it?

Thanks

IP stands for Instrument Panel; SEC is the connector that uplifters (accessory shops) use to install options requiring keyed power. The cover that covers your connector panel will have a diagram of the layout. I think it's the second 6-way connector from the left on the top row.

Ok, I had a chance to take a closer look at it this weekend, and found what I need.

The SEO connector is the top left connector in the "MID BEC" panel that is just behind the clutch pedal. The harness that plugs into the connector is GM part #15306107, in case anyone else ever needs the info. Most dealers around here want $40-$45 for it  Some of the online parts dealers had them as low as $22, but by the time you add shipping, and special order fees, it was almost the same price as buying directly from the dealer.

I found one place that sells the connectors for less than 50 cents each, but you need to purchase them in a quantity of 2,000. If you want to look for the parts yourself, they are a Packard 280 series connector. The connector's part # is 12193930(F), and the terminal's part # is 12191479.

I found this info on a diesel forum, but I can't for the life of me remember which one, or I would link to them too.

Chris, thanks for this info. The connector for the SEO and trailer wiring harness are the same. I was about to buy a trailer wiring harness off e-bay (usually folks are selling ones they don't need for a couple bucks, with vendors selling them up to around $14/ea) when I remembered I still had mine (installed a brake controller with a harness). The connector was easily modified to allow the trailer wiring pigtail to be wired to my CB, which I needed hot always, hot when running, and ground. Not sure if I'll have to add any fuses, and haven't tried this yet, but will post an update when I am done with cleaning up my current wiring mess (currently am plugging CB into cigarette lighter).

Well, so much for that idea. Actually the connectors are different. I thought I could modify it, but I couldn't. The male ends inside the truck are on one side for the trailer brake harness and on the other side for the SEO. Looks like I will be looking for a place to buy the correct connector. Bummer.
