Where Is The (oem) Remote Start Module Located

Well, I am taking my truck to get a nice viper two way alarm (at bestbuy) in the next few days. My truck came with remote start already, but the installers cannot integrade the OEM remote start and an aftermarket alarm. So, they said they have to disconnect the remote start module, and install the parts that come with the new alarm (with remote start). I am thinking of asking them to completely remove the remote start module so I can sell it to somebody that needs it. Let me know if you have any info. on the remote start module install/ removal.Regards, Al

Don't use Best Buy they do not know what they are doing. My installer easily hooked up my Clifford (same as Viper) to my OE remote start. After a few weeks I had them change it to use the Clifford remote start. The major reasons to do it using the aftermarket remote start is if you are buying a 2-way system and want the remote start status to display on the remote AND/OR you wish to be able to shut off the vehicle remotely when the remote start is activated (can't do this with OE mated to aftermarket).

Really, that is awesome. I do want a 2 way alarm, so I do want to use an aftermarket remote. Would you happent to know what alarm system you went with, and how much your installer charged you? I really appreciate your help.

I went with the Clifford 50.5X. I had the newer, color LCD, rechargable 70.5X first but the range was not good enough for me on that one, so I stepped down to the monochrome LCD, and AAA battery eating 50.5X with SST technology. Now I can start and monitor my truck from my office (300+ feet away, inside the middle of a tiltwall warehouse building with many 53' containers (think semi-trailers) in-between). The Clifford 50,5X is the same product as the Viper 5900.

I don't know the exact cost as this was installed when I had a alot of other stuff done to the truck, totalling $2500 (alarm, lidar jammer, lockpick, rear cam, video/bluetooth kit, etc).
