2016 Vehicle Standards Mpg

sry if this has already been posted.. didnt see it tho. tell me what you guys think. personally i dont like the whole... truck will cost a ton more to own, and how the hell can you get 30 mpg in a full size truck... aint happenin.

Seriously tho, i think that this will happen and the cost of a new 1500 series truck will go up significantly. I read on Pickuptrucks.com that 8500lb gvwr and above trucks will be excluded from this mess, also 1/2 ton diesels wont likley be built. IMO, i wouldnt be suprised to see 1/2 tons discontinued if they get too expensive( who the hell's gonna pay 50k for a new base model GM hybrid truck???), leaving only 3/4 and 1 tons, which likley wont have to abide to the new standards.

 

Either way, this is doing nothin but screwin the whole mid-west. In my city we got 2 chrysler plants and a GM powertrain factory, in addition to tons of suppliers. back in '06 Hydramatic employed about 4000, the Jeep Complex had a little more and the Chrysler torq-converter plant had a couple thousand. Now Hydramatic is closed for the next 9 weeks, and both chry. plants closed the day they filed for bankrupcy, no one has said if or when they will re open. Im sure the suppliers arent doing much better. I dont nor have i ever worked for any of these companies, but it annoys the hell out of me to see the auto industry going under all while our "leader" dont have the guts to get up and do somthing about it. These new standards will come at a huge cost, not only of "about $1300" per vehicle, but of a large par tof the mid west's job base.

 

 

 

Either way, if i dont buy a new truck by '15 im gonna have my '99 c2500 for a long time.

You can bet the price increase will be more than $1300 per vehicle. Wonder what the repair and maintenance upkeep will be on these new vehicles? Guess we're giving up on Hydrogen?

yep, i bet by 2022, people will be thrilled to replace a 8-10k battery pack or electric motor, in their '16 AMC pickup truck

yep i think we can pull of a 30 mpg full size truck, hell were the country that put a man of the moon with 60's technology, but i do think it will be cost prohibitive to most people, like most government made vehicles. Anyone want a base model 1500 for the low low price of 49999?

haha... 4x4 option will cost you 9999... because you wont get the mpg and are considered a gas guzzler. hahah. cant wait.

Seriously if I wanted to drive around in a POS Fiesta or some other tin can, I would buy one. But I don't.

 

You know, I wish there was a add-on for a vehicle that allowed it to spew copious amounts of harmless black smoke out of the tail pipe. Just to piss the greenies and environazis off...

o btw, it prolly a good time to start stocking up on R134-A while its still $5 per can, from what i read their going to try to make air conditioning systems "less harmful to the environment". To me that equals R134A at $100 or completly unavalible can some time in the near future as it "causes global warming".
