  1. dealer called me yesterday about a recall for programming of the headlights. We also discussed the open recall on this truck for the tailgate issue. Seems there is still not a solution --- but the dealer is a method to disable the tailgate buttons so thay can no longer send the request to open to the BCM. (presumably they do the same as @Delta Tango mentioned and disconnect the switch) Tailgate will still open using the FOB or the button inside truck. For some this will be a reasonable temporary solution.
  2. Mine will 'disable' when sun is low in the sky and vehicle is driving into it. Same sun conditions that make it difficult for the me to see down the road.
  3. Since about 2008 model year, the computer monitors and manages the charging system, based on MANY items that it measures. It is expecting the battery to match the characteristics of the battery it was shipped with. As well as adjusting the % of maximum charge rate it can set multiple levels of idle increase and of 'load shedding'. There are about five and half 8.5x11 pages in the upfitters manuals that describe this. They used both flooded and AGM on the 2020's -- depending on engine and features installed.
  4. I have a few fills at over 700 miles, and lots at over 600 miles - '23 3.0L crewcab/4wd/6.5ft It range is a serious issue, the 3.0L is your friend. Fwiw, I got about 20-21 doing same job with a '16 5.3 crew/4wd/6.5ft
  5. Did you check out the accessories section of chev's website?
  6. As TrailBossMike says, no message unless it is having problems. Regen can be triggered by miles, soot level, fuel burned or engine hours. At 10,000 miles it's had lots of regens. Exhaust is hotter during regen. Was it undercoated by you or previous owner? Could be burning off overspray. I have an aftermarket monitor on mine. I logged its regens for awhile. It was averaging about 220 miles between regens. Truck getting a little over 29 mpg during this time.
  7. Check out the 3.0 in a 1500
  8. I ripped my cd's to a usb stick. You can have the entire library with you, but don't need to fill the backseat with hundreds of cd's.
  9. If Amsoill ever decides to get it certified, I might consider it. Just like the rest of their 'trust me' products.
  10. There was. The software solution/update for the LM2 was released November 2021. If the truck was built after then or if it has been updated since then it will have the revised software.
  11. There is supposed to be some draw on a shutdown vehicle. Parasitic draws test can be done to determine if the draw is what it is supposed to be. If it's higher than spec, test continues to determine source of draw. There is also a 'shipping mode' available that reduces the amount draw when shutdown.
  12. You can 'bump' and release the start switch. Signal goes to BCM. When it has completed whatever checks it does it sends signal to ECM, which completes whatever checks it does, on a diesel it also runs the glowplugs for the time suitable to current ambient and engine temperature. Then it sends start command to fuel system and to starter. It is NOT necessary to hold button (or key) while this is going on. GM's have had 'bump and release' starting systems for many years.
  13. I have 2 vehicles connected to the app. Both are shown in the correct colour.
  14. I find that turning the dimmer for the dash down helps. Bright dash screws up your night vision, making things worse -- even if using the mirrors. Bonus it is that turning dash down so as to not mess up night vision also makes the headlights seem more effective (even though its the eyes that are improved by not having night vision reduced) Despite all that I prefer to use mirrors except when really close to something backing into something. Way back when, dashes only had a couple of lights -- and the dimmer system could them completely off. I wish that was still possible.
  15. And thicker oil in differentials and transmissions when the trip is starting. And electric heaters in steering wheel, seats, mirror/window defrosters. All make a difference. Summer of course means AC for most. Some notice the 'best' fuel economy in the spring/fall seasons.
  16. Have you asked if they will help you out at 104K. Sometimes problem items get 'policy' warranty beyond the powertrain one. There were also a bunch of harness and connector issues -- so it might not be the valev anyway. The valve design was changed in later years.
  17. Mines a 23 sierra -- it always says 'unavailable'.
  18. Radiators (on anything) can fail, but it had nothing to do with air not bleed out.
  19. Your favorite body shop can order the 'crash parts' and paint them to match your truck
  20. They weren't offered for '22, '23, or '24 model. Probably have to paint a set / get a set painted.
  21. 1500's have had that display since mid 2022 model year. so far, it's the only time I've heard that issue. Hopefully it's also the last. Loose connector somewhere preventing power to the display?
  22. One of the reasons I switched to Retrax was because it's not necessary to open tailgate to open or close the cover. It's also not necessary to open the cover to open/close the tailgate. Cover can be locked part way open if desired. Cover does not block view to the rear when it is open. I've moved the cover from the '21 to the '23. I don't use the grab handle, but kept it installed in both trucks. (From years of habit I still use the corner step while holding onto the stake pocket) Downside often commented about is that the box that it rolls into takes up space at the front of the box.
  23. Did it give you a DIC warning for transmission temperature? Pulling against a big grade or very strong headwind? Speed?
