  1. very cool, anychance someone does a write up on using upgraded AFM DoD parts from the performance cars. more cam duration , stronger AFM lifters, etc. I do enjoy getting 30mpg on the hwy, and if i can bump the power output while retaining AFM DOD, i would be happy
  2. Yes, they are going on my wish list after the fat front sway bar upgrade
  3. speaking of pulse, Douge thorly makes a redesigned header that has two scavengers from the 4 primaries into a final collector scavenger, its designed to bump the low to mid power, on the 5.3, something these motors need more of.. I can only imaging guys bolting on the big 6.2 longtubes on a 5.3 and not making any bottom end torque ...
  4. roads are full of enough a-hole lifted truck owners blinding us at night... dial that shit down please!
  5. not sure any trans after 2016 is reprogrammable , software is under lock down
  6. higher stall on the camaro Torque converter , bumps line pressure to the trans pump way higher i would imagine, need to data-log the trans on both vehicles to confirm
  7. hand held canned tunes wont make much power... because they cant touch the PE tables otherwise the FEDs will be on their ass, shutting them down for emmissions violations! they may add some timing, disable TQMnmnt, disable cyclinder deactivation, tighten the line pressure in the trans, thats about it. the power is in the PE table
  8. camaros aint pulling trailers or running 35" tires either. its a light weight car so the torque loads are much less. who knows if the camaro has better tcu software programming and a deleted thermostat on the cooler. one might want to look into flashing a camaro trans program into the truck tcu. this could improve line pressure and lubrication on the trucks.
  9. sounds about right for a dealership. nowadays they charge $200-250 just to do a trans filter and fluid swap. pull a trans, inspect the stator, install new TC , if not a new stator also, slap it together, recalibrate , top up fluid. I say $1400 is about right.
  10. another post about 8 speeds, these transmissions seem to like to tear up the bushings, and the support for the torque conververter get's roached. they're also overheating them due to running the thermostat in the cooler line. sounds like a money pit
  11. look on the bright side , at least it's not the 8 speed trans. because there is almost no parts available for full rebuild, and the pump on the valve body is driven by a bicycle chain, lol 8 speeds are fuked up. hit eject, or unload it on a used car dealer if you do have the 8 spd. sorry . dont buy lifted anything , or moddified trucks , everyone is selling thier **** up projects
  12. wireless power that you subcribe to on a monthly basis, dump the battery tech , full scale rf energy transmission like the cell phone network.
  13. how much would a full EV truck weigh is the question i have? those batteries are not light in the tesla, whats a pack gonna weigh in a truck?
  14. you wont gain any mpg improvements by switching to the 8 speed, it has more torque multiplication , so you can put big tires on it, but unless it's a last model trans with the upgrades built into it, your gonna get ****ed on it... your better off installing highway gears in the diff and running a 17" rim on a 33" tire and doing a lowering job on the truck, then rebuild the 6 speed. less head aches. the 8 speed is just filling in the holes in the shifts more so than the 6 speed with the wider shift pattern. i agree a beefed up 4L80 would be a better trick. you might like the wider shift pattern of the 4 speed better. just re-gear the final to hit your target load and highway speed your after.
  15. Richard Wardell will tell you how to do it, he's on youtube, so you'll have to track him down to get his shop phone number.
  16. this guy is an actual trans rebuilder so he sounds like he knows stuff.
  17. yes get the Greg Banish books, then watch sloppy mechanics videos and Goat rope garage you tube videos, then you can buy the GM trans tuning books for HPtuners . also you want to purchase the chinese VCX Nano device to read and clear transmission learn functions, and tb relearn, and body control computer for diagnosis.. if your really anal the factory repair manuals cant hurt. either on CD or paperback
  18. i have the old HPtuners module, I wish i got the pro version, as the number 1 performance tune upgrade you want to do is Improve PE tables, this is where the most bang for the buck power is hidden, close to 50hp is left on the table under PE. this is dialed down due to emmission regs by GM, 2500 truck have it turned off completly on some model years., thus why you need the live wideband O2 graphing. I wouldn't touch the timing, until you got some seat time, I would recommend tuning your transmission first.
  19. get a dirtbike, 250 size, and then buy a 650 cruiser , v-stars are fairly cheap used and they have a wind fairing and saddle bags.. stay away from old bikes, maybe 98 and up is ok... old parts availabilty is getting difficult and the Japanese are into selling bikes not parts. try finding crankshaft bearings for that old 1976 xl350....
  20. i know what i'm talking about because i've modified many proportioning valves on the B-bodies and G-body cars. you act as if you actually know something but it sounds as if your critique is that of one'self not of me brother .
  21. from what i've seen I would prefer to go with a 17"x10 rim on a 35x12 tire. softens up the ride too. i havent' any opinion about the UCA's
  22. looks like somone might have hacked his obd port and put the truck into a full throttle situation.. another reason to lock down your OBD2 port and disconnect all sat and cell data interfaces into the truck. our trucks have no security
  23. gov speed is based on your drive shaft length,
  24. also the airdam is part designed to improve cooling to the radiator, for improved airflow
  25. how much bigger is the new front swaybar? i have the same rear bar, i like mine at the stiffest setting, but this causes the rear end to loose traction under power when turning hard. i would like to go bigger bar up front and soften the rear setting for better traction in town... i do have the locking rear diff so it tends to cover up any wheel spin if i stay on the throttle and keep the axels locked up. but the middle to softest setting doesnt really have much of any improved handling, go to the stiffest ...tell me what you think then
