  1. My black 2018 had 2 nickel sized holes in the paint after washing it at a carwash the first time. Mind you carwash only have about 1800 psi. I believe if I washed it with our farm powerwasher it would be entirely primer gray. I guess they must have some left over 89-92 paint/primer to use up.....
  2. There are 2 types of people ones that get it done and ones that sit on the sidelines..... This was my observation from getting it done for decades with a 1500 at home.. going from 15s - 16s(back when 1500s came with LT tires) - 18s to now 20s. My service trucks at work have been 2500s and 3500s with many more miles put on them... 2500 to haul cars and a boat lol what a joke
  3. Most people don't realize the majority of the stabile towing feel of a 2500 comes from the tires. All the 1500s come with P tires that are squishy - for comfort.... I have found just going from 18" wheels to 20"s w/P tires helped substantially. Now if I swapped tires to LTs along with 20"s?? We tow all over the Midwest and CO WY hauling cars and a Cobalt boat. I probably put on more miles just with a trailer than most people do combined per year. I do all of this with a 6.2 ccsb 1500. I'm looking at trading for another but this time it will have max tow and possibly 6.5 box... still debating the longer box. I just can't justify a 6.6 Dmax (extra maint or fuel gelling in the winter - I used to be a JD tech and have had my fair share of gelled diesels) or the terrible empty mpg of the gasser 2500s.
  4. With wraps, how long are the lifespans?
  5. I have changed out 2 or 3 of them over the years, but they also had 80k + miles on them too. Our local dealers stock them. One variable would change how long they last would be location. I see you are hiding behind a screen name with no location. We have much more time with in-climate weather vs someone in Texas.
  6. fixed your quote. I dont have any pics or VINs of the vehicle in question, but I do have friends and one of them replaced that clutch on a brand (at the time) pickup. Even in the article posted it listed the clutch is only 5 - 20%(not going to reread and give exact) applied .... how can you even argue? Apply your brakes at 20% for 120 miles, tell me what happens.
  7. After working on 1000s of diesels I have noticed oil changes affect engines more than anything. You can tell who does them when you pull off the first rod cap.
  8. This is the reason I dont buy used. That article further enforces the reason why I dont use auto and why local GM dealerships stock transfercase clutches. Obviously the clutch isnt burnt out everytime you use it, but with the right spotty ice conditions they have worn out in under 120 miles.
  9. clean out the cup holder that thing is filthy..... lol
  10. did the tires affect your milage?
  11. Of all the pickups I had this was my favorite. This pic was after I had to put on "rust" flares - looked so much cleaner without them before it started rusting. I drove this thing for over 120k, and literally hauled our house home with it one trailer load at a time. Only had to put a fuel pump in it. Still had the same tires on it that were used when we bought it, I will have to say they made me a believer of BFG. Sadly with the amount of miles and the rust we let it go.
  12. Silver was my first choice but none were in the area.
  13. I would have never guessed a color combo like this would look so good. Is it a wrap?
  14. This is what I thought when I test drove one back in 14 or 15. At the time I was look a replacement for my wife's Impala as pickups retain more resale. I think if a guy only towed a fishing boat, lawn mower, or it was a town vehicle the 4.3 would fit the bill. It was very peppy around town, but when I got out on the highway at 60 and hammered down was when I could tell the difference. My goal of hauling 4 snowmobiles at 75 mph or better from Iowa to Colorado wasnt going to be met.
  15. 340 trouble free miles here. I dont notice it shifting at all. too soon?
  16. when it came off the transport
  17. my cell phone camera dust lens broke/fell off and now its full of dust, but my pickup looked pretty shiny at menards the other day
  18. Its funny I bought a sweet 2001 in 06 or 07 with 120k, drove it for 110k more, trouble-free miles, btw and by then it was too rusted to do anything with. I was very sad to let it go, by far it is our favorite. I then bought a new 2013 2 lt because with rebates it was the same price as used. Had it for 22,222 miles. GM did the 10K off again and I got a 2015 1lt drove it for 29k miles. When Labor day '18 came around GM finally had an LTZ sale so I didnt feel so bad about buying my dream 6.2 which now has 340 miles.
  19. Rejuvenator from Malco works great for stained or dirty chrome.
  20. I had a lock and roll on a 94 Dodge - it came with it. Worked good until one lip got bent a wee bit. Then it was a pain to slid in and out, and that also wore out the seal. Even with that the whole thing weathered rather fast. For as much as they cost I feel the rest of it should have held up better. In 13 I bought a used Access and I have put it on 3 pickups. Just yesterday I called in for a couple replacement buckles, they asked for the SN and sent them out free of charge. They now have a customer for life.
  21. The old 5.3 15. Im going to miss it.
  22. I seen the other forest pic which looks like a calendar photo, but this looks cool as heck with the topper. Maybe because we had 76 K5 blazer when I was little or that I had a 89 red/black K5 in my 20's... just seem to have a soft spot for them and this looks a lot like one of todays version
  23. That is correct. I remember them doubling teaming my dad one time, at a place called Ratigan. He almost walked out, very tense. I didnt have that problem. The guy simply gave me the options with zero sale pitch, I signed off declining, we then went back to a descent conversation. I was impressed to say the least.
